135. Leaving Fishman Island
They go out and the Straw Hats follow them because they're the ones who ate the candies. They meet Baron Tamago, a long leg tribesmen with half egg suit, and Pekoms, a lion mink. They're rather famous among all of Big Mom's subordinates.
"Baron Tamago, we're very sorry, but we can't provide this month candies right now."-Minister of The Left
"What'd you say-bon?"-Tamago
"There are some problem that happen yesterday."-Minister of The Left
Minister of The Left try to persuade Tamago & Pekoms about the candy. He say the factory has been destroyed and they will need 2 weeks to build it again. Tamago say they need it now, or Big Mom will destroy this island.
"You should know what will happen if Mama is angry-jour."-Tamago
"Tha-that's..."-Minister of The Left
"Ah sorry, i was the one who eat those candies. They're very delicious."-Luffy smile
Luffy suddenly say that it's him who eat the candies, surprising the Fishmans and Big Mom's mens. Tamago then explain about the deal of Big Mom's protection for 10 tons of candy. Pekoms also seem to call someone and inform about the lack of candies.
Tamago tell them the consequences of not providing the candies. The consequence is that Big Mom will release her 'Beast' to raze this island. The Straw Hats grow angry hearing this, they've just saved this place and Big Mom want to destroy it.
Suddenly the denden mushi ring, makes Tamago & Pekoms panic. Luffy pick up the call and say who he is to the caller. It turns out to be Big Mom, and she demands the candies. Luffy tell her that he ate all the candies and she won't get any, much to her rage.
"I will give you treasures in exchange for the candies."-Luffy
"!!! WHA-"-Jon & Nami
Suddenly Tamago take the microphone and say to Big Mom that they need to accept it. They have lost 2 ships after Kid destroy them. Jon however didn't take this kindly and swipe the microphone.
"Oi old hag, this is Van D. Jono speaking. Listen! You won't get anything from Fishman Island, nor will you get anything from us. You can't even protect this island yesterday, and it's us who protect it. Even so, you demand a protection fee?
Don't make me laugh, old hag! You need to work if you want to be rewarded. If you've got a problem, then i will gladly take you on. Your candies, your title, and your power, didn't worth a shit for me."-Jon
Jon throw the mic to Luffy with serious expression.
"Luffy, it's better to take this place from that old hag. She don't deserve the protection fee, because she can't protect it. If you want to be a King, you will need a trritory. This place is perfect isn't it?"-Jon grin evilly
"I guess you're right."-Luffy
"Mammamamma~, Monkey D. Luffy, Van D. Jono. I will wait for you in New World, and i will show you the consequence of angering me."-Big Mom
"Sure, i will come to The New World and kick your ass. I will defeat you and take Fishman Island as my territory. Just wait for it!"-Luffy
"Enjoy your last days holding that Yonkou Title, old hag!"-Jon smirk
"You insolent brats. Tamago, Pekoms, go back! Your job is done."-Big Mom
"Yes, Mama."-Tamago & Pekoms
They close the call, and see Tamago & Pekoms leave.
"Sorry old man Neptune, it's too hasty, but that old hag will not let it slide. She will certainly destroy this island if we didn't do it."-Jon
"It's okay-jamon. But will you be fine after challenging an Emperor like that?"-Neptune
"We will fight her sooner or later, no need to be afraid."-Luffy
"He's right, if we're afraid of a Yonkou, we can't reach our goal."-Zoro
Jon apologize to Jinbe, because he know that Sun Pirate is under Big Mom now. Jinbe didn't mind, as they also can cut ties with Big Mom pirates. He just join Big Mom to protect Fishman Island after Whitebeard's death.
After that problem solved, the Straw Hats agree to go exploring the island on their own. They were being disrupted before because of Hody's attack. Jon haven't walk around at all because he is in the palace all the time.
Jon walk around the Fishman Island and the citizens greet him happily. Some children even ask him how they can be strong, so he tell them to train slowly, they also need to be open minded. Jon know that children is more open to new things than adults, so he teach them some crucial things.
"Listen kids, don't judge people based on other's words! Search it for yourself and find the truth behind it. Even when someone do bad things, there can be a reason behind it, and so is the opposite. Not everything that you see or hear is the truth."-Jon
"What do you mean?"-Boy A
"What do you think of me and my crew before?"-Jon
"You are scary and evil."-Girl A
"Ri-right, what about now?"-Jon's lips are twitching
"You are very kind and our heroes."-Boy B
"It change isn't it? But did you know our real self? Even if we save you, you'll never know why we do that. Did you know that we do all of that because we have some friends here like Jinbe, Caimie, Shirahoshi, Pappag, Hachi and the mermaids?"-Jon
"I don't know."-Boy B
"I know, a mermaid told me."-Girl B
"See? You need to know and find the truth first before going to conclusion. How if we do that just to get your money? That will be bad right?"-Jon
"Yeah"-Kids
"That's why you need to be smart too, not only strong."-Jon
Jon give the kids some advice, and some adults also hearing him. Jon think that at least he can make them less anxious and more open minded. It's not good if hatred and fear are clouding their heart and vision for other people.
After that, Jon walk around the island and buy many local product. He even find Pappag's store that has been razed by Nami. He also go to the Fishman district and Sea Forest. He also see the poneglyph and Otohime's grave there.
"Hmm, i'm still wondering just what kind of material that was used to make poneglyph. It is so tough, and it didn't break after 800 years. Even WG can't destroy it, they will do it if they can to erase the history. But there must be a way to process it, because there are words engraved on it."-Jon
'Heeh, is it that tough?'-Kurama
"Yeah it is. Even i doubt you can break it."-Jon
'Damn, don't belittle me kid! Let me try it!'-Kurama
Jon sigh and summon Kurama, no one is here so there's no problem. Kurama try to scratch the poneglyph with his nail, but it's not working. He want to use Tailed Beast bomb, but Jon stop him. He don't know if it can destroy the poneglyph, but it will surely destroy the area.
Jon call Kurama back and the fox is sulking in his mind scape. Jon just sigh and let the moody fox to himself. He must be frustated because he fail to even scratch the poneglyph.
Jon then walk around and try to put his hand in the open sea, but he feel that the pressure of 10,000 metres is too much for him. He is not Fishman that have adapted to this environment, and he need haki to withstand the pressure. If not for that bubble coating, Sunny will get crushed by the pressure.
"That bubble is really strong to withstand this pressure. Luffy's rubber body might withstand it, but he will get drowned."-Jon
Jon go back to Fishman Island and meet with his friends. They will leave this place shortly after preparing their supplies. The ship also has been coated by Franky's acquintances, Den which is Tom's brother. He is also a shipwright like Tom.
"Oi Nami, what's those big bags? It seem to be filled with treasures."-Jon's eyes shine
"Hehe, the King kindly give us some 'rewards' for our hard work yesterday. Right King Neptune?"-Nami
"Ye-yeah, right."-Neptune is sweating hard.
Jon know Nami must've threat him or blackmail him with something that make him give some treasures. But Jon brush it off as he also like the 'reward'. Jon store the treasures in his big storage scroll. This scroll is made by him, because now he can make his own seals.
Jon even make some gravity seals that he put on his clothes. So his clothes are very heavy, but it didn't affect the surrounding and only affect the one using it. So it's only him that feel the strong gravity pressure.
Training weights are not good enough for him, as they become bulky when he raise the weights. But he also need some form of training daily, even when he walk. Then he remember Dragon Ball's gravity chamber, so he start to learn gravity seals.
Still, Jon didn't overweight himself for daily activity. He just make it enough to make him move like normal person. The gravity will not hinder his everyday activity, but still provide a training for him.
"Oi Jon, can you make that gravity clothes for me?"-Zoro
"Sure, 1 million per clothes."-Jon
"Geh, it's too expensive isn't it?"-Zoro
"Of course not, it's an exclusive items that only i can make. I can even adjust the gravity to your preferences in the future, free for 3 years."-Jon
"Are you a ninja or a merchant? Come on, make it cheaper."-Zoro
"Tch, then 300,000 but there will be no free adjustmen & repairing."-Jon
Zoro agree, and Jon will make the seal later when they sail. Sanji see Zoro order the gravity seals, and he don't want to lose. So he also order one to Jon, because he will be left behind if Zoro can train everyday.
After filling their stocks of supply, the Straw Hats get ready to sail. Shirahoshi is crying and ask them to stay there for a day, then a week, and finally a year more. Luffy just laugh at her and finally she stop after he promise her to take her seeing the green forest in the future.
Then Minister of The Right give Nami a new log pose. It have 3 magnets instead of one like what they have. It will allow them to choose a safe route in New World because it point to 3 different islands.
One of the magnets is moving unstably and it is the sign of a dangerous island. Nami, Usopp and Chopper got scared instantly. They want to throw the log pose, but suddenly Luffy extend his neck and look at the pose.
"Hmm? Let me see it!"-Luffy
"HIII..-Nami feel scared
"Oh no, he saw it!"-Usopp also feel horror in his heart
"The needle that wiggling around seem very interesting."-Luffy smiling excitedly
Luffy like the unstable magnet and want to follow it. Nami got angry and want to choose the route. Luffy won't accept because he is the captain. Usopp & Chopper beg him to follow the navigator. It's really a funny sight to watch.
"They should've just give up."-Jon
"He won't change anything he decide."-Zoro
"Hehehe, it will be interesting."-Robin
The trio give up on persuading Luffy and accept their fate. They even say that they're very excited to have dangerous journey and go to hell. They're very desperate to show that they are not scared.
Then they say their farewell, and Jinbe also say he will meet them soon. They all also promise to Shirahoshi that they will come and visit her again, so she must not be a crybaby anymore.
"UNFURL THE SAIL!"-Luffy
"AYE, AYE!"-All
"LET'S SET SAIL!"-Luffy
The Straw Hats finally sail and leave Fishman Island.
