"Too much." She paused for a moment and closed her eyes to control her emotions and answered Avery with a long sigh. "I don't know what I would have done if Noah hadn't been there at the time. Noah saved me just as they were about to destroy me. After that day, he played every role in my life. From my family to my friends.

I don't know but I think Noah knows all about that incident but he's not telling me."

"I also feel the same way about Alex. I also think that there is some connection between the death of your parents and my father."

"It can be," Emily replied struggling her shoulder.

It was two o'clock at night but sleep was nowhere near her. She was tossing and turning on the bed. She had called Alex many times so far. But also the situation was the same as before. Emily had the same condition as her. She had also tried to call Noah many times but his mobile was switched off.

They both slept around four in the morning. Avery slept a little earlier and Emily followed her.

When Avery woke up in the morning, she was the first to see if Alex was back, but Alex had not yet arrived for her disappointment. She again called him but still the same result. Now she was starting to feel uneasy. She had Ethan's number so dialled his number and asked about Alex. To which she got the answer that he has gone for very important work and there he cannot receive the call. After hearing this, Avery cut the call but she felt from Ethan's words that he was hiding something.

It was almost college time, Avery didn't want to go but she decided to go with Emily thinking that if she stayed at home she would go crazy thinking.

When they arrived at the college, they met Raina and found out that Max had also gone somewhere in a hurry this morning.

Now there was a strong feeling in their hearts that something bad was going to happen.

Since Alex was not present, Lucas conducted his class time. He was happy to see Avery regularly in college. Now just he had to take the next step and increase his closeness with Avery.

Avery and Emily were in class but their minds were focused on Alex and Noah. Avery didn't want to stay anymore in class, she was irritating listening to gossiping about Alex and Violet in her class since she came. Yesterday's news was read by some students in her college and spread throughout the university. Avery had less of a problem with the news but more of a problem with the students talking about Alex and Violet. She was jealous of Violet. She desperately felt for the first time tell the whole world that, 'Alex is not single. He is my husband and the father of my unborn child.'

After finishing college, they both left for work. After going to the company, she met Sister Marry. Sister Marry was very happy to see her. The two of them nearly met after a month. The first sister Marry confused when Avery asked her about Alex. She wondered what Avery had to do with Alex but then she remembered the old days of how Avery used to ask about Alex arrival every day because she used to scare him most.

Thinking that she simply answered, "Sir hasn't come into the company today so Ethan is handling his work."

She was typing on the keypad. She was doing work but still, Alex was roaming around her head. Her head began to ache from continuous thinking. Sliding back her chair, she got up from the desk and approached Emily. She bent down a bit and put her hand on Emily's shoulder.

"Do you want some coffee with me?"

"Sure," Emily was ready in a moment because her condition was no different than Avery's.

There were coffee rooms on every floor of every building in the ELIZA Group where employees could rest for a while. It was a well-arranged room with sitting arrangement. Along with that, attached washroom.

Emily went to the washroom and Avery started making coffee for both of them. As she was standing near the coffee machine, a voice came from behind, "So you finally came." This voice was familiar to her. She pulled her eyebrows toge and turned back.

Jade was standing in front of her and looking at her with contempt. Avery rolled her eyes throughout the room. There was no one apart from them, which gave her relief.

"What do you mean?"

"I mean, I thought you wouldn't show your face to anyone after being insulted so much, but you're roaming around shamelessly." Lifting corners of her painted red lips she smirked.

"If declaring me a wife in front of everyone is disgraceful in your eyes, let it be. If it is an insult to declare in front of everyone that my unborn child is his, let it be. I don't care."

Jade smiled dropped, "Do you think Alex's words will be believed by everyone with closed eyes? Everyone knew a street girl like you very well. A girl like you can do anything to trap a wealthy man. This pregnancy can also be a part of it. It may be someone else's baby that you are using for your purposes. It could be the dirty blood of a dirty man like you....."

"DON'T YOU DARE", Avery's eyes became a bloody red. " Don't say a single word about my child." Avery was now out of control. She was already in tension. And on top of that, Jade's words salted her situation. It wouldn't have mattered if Jade had said anything to her but how dare she say about her unborn baby. She placed the coffee mugs on the table and stood in front of her.

"I know you have some problem with me but not a single word against my child. I will not tolerate it. I will forget that you are my husband's childhood friend."

This Avery was different, she was no more timid girl from the party who had heard her insults silently. There was a teenager mother in front of her who could do anything for her child which shocked Jade from the core. Not a single word came out of Jade's mouth after seeing Avery's second look.

"What happened?" They both looked at the bathroom door when they heard Emily's voice.

"Nothing."

Avery looked at Jade for the last time and walked over to the table and signalled to Emily for coming too.

Not standing there for a second, Jade left, and Avery breathed a sigh of relief after she left. She couldn't believe what she had just done. It was too rare for her. But she has to do it. She had to stand up for herself and her child. She can't always expect someone to come for her.

They started sipping their coffee. Soon finished and went back to their place. On the way back, Emily asked her what had happened, but Avery simply told her it was not important.

Avery was about to take her place when her mobile phone rang. Her eyes sparkled when she saw Alex's number on the screen. She quickly picked up the call.

"Where are you." She asked loudly which caused her to get the attention of others, she immediately lowered her voice and put her hand over her mouth. Sitting in her seat, she began to whisper.

"Where are you? Why didn't you pick up my calls? Are you all right. I was so worried. Didn't you think of me even once?"

"Calm down wifey. I'm fine. Take Emily with you and come to the Parking, my chauffeur is waiting for you. He will bring you to me.."

"But..." Alex cut off the call before Avery would say something. She immediately packed her bags and told Emily to pack her bags too.

The two went into a private parking lot and sat in the car. After a journey of about half an hour, the car reached the premises of Martin Hospital, which increased the heart rate of both of them. Now they were guaranteed that something had happened.

Alex's bodyguard was already there to escort them. He took them to the VIP floor where they first saw Max with rimless glasses on his nose and he was looking into the file in his hand. There was a look of anxiety on his face.

When they approached him and asked what had happened, he pointed to the intensive care unit. When they looked inside through the glass of the door, the ground beneath their feet slipped.

They both put their hands over their mouths and their eyes filled with tears.

The person in the ICU room who was unconscious on the bed had so many bandages on his body that it was almost impossible to identify him.
