Beauty and the Beasts

"Replenish energy? And even prolong lifespan?" Bai Qingqing felt like she was living in a fantasy world.     

"Yeah, that's why pretty females tend to choose powerful and capable beastmen as their mates, to get them to capture behemoths for them so that they can stay young forever."     

Parker didn't feel it was strange at all that Bai Qingqing was ignorant about this matter. Tribes that weren't powerful enough wouldn't tell their females about these, lest their tribe's females become ambitious and choose their mates from other tribes, leading to the decline of their own tribe.     

This was especially true of small tribes, where most females simply had no idea what an energy crystal was. Bai Qingqing belonged to the ape tribe, which combative prowess wasn't high. Hence, it was very normal that she had no idea of this.     

If he hadn't killed this behemoth, he wouldn't have told her about this as well. However, now that he had killed one, he naturally had to make Bai Qingqing understand just how awesome that was. Firstly, so that she would like him even more. And secondly, so that she wouldn't randomly mate with other males.     

Bai Qingqing was dumbfounded by the newfound knowledge and was about to ask further when suddenly, Muir's screeching was heard from the skies.     

Screech—     

Muir placed the package wrapped with leaves on the ground using his claws, then stood on the ground and transformed into a human. "A behemoth came?"     

"Mm." Bai Qingqing briskly strode towards Muir.     

Muir handed the package to Bai Qingqing and transformed into an eagle, before flying over to a hill to take a look.     

"Bad news. Many behemoths are coming up from over there." Muir informed them upon returning.     

Bai Qingqing quickly used the snake scale to slice off a lock of her hair, then opened the package and nimbly smudged her head with the wet mud.     

After she was done, Parker walked over and took a sniff, then nodded and said, "The smell has weakened by a lot, but it's still detectable. The behemoths probably won't be able to detect it if we're far away."     

"Good." Bai Qingqing revealed her white teeth with her mud-filled face.     

Looking at Bai Qingqing's face, the corners of Muir's lips arched a little. When Bai Qingqing looked over though, he resumed his cold disposition once more.     

"Come over to my back." Muir walked to Bai Qingqing's side as he spoke, transforming into a giant black eagle approximately three meters wide—with his wings spread, it would be approximately seven meters wide.     

His chest was pressed against the ground to make it easier for Bai Qingqing to climb onto him.     

Holding down her skirt, Bai Qingqing climbed onto Muir's back and said to Parker, "What about Parker? Can you take one more person?"     

Roar! The behemoths' roars could be heard on the mountain top nearby. Several behemoths' heads could be seen amidst the grass as they climbed up with all their might.     

Muir instantly took flight and whistled twice, motioning to Parker using his claws to indicate that there was still space for him.     

Parker turned around and glanced at the behemoth, saying, "No need to bother about me. I'll think of something myself."     

If he were to seek help from another male, Qingqing would surely think he wasn't a formidable enough male.     

Muir didn't stand on ceremony and flapped his wings, flying high into the skies.     

Bai Qingqing yelled anxiously, "Parker's still below."     

Several behemoths climbed up the cliff at the same time, roaring and charging at Parker. Behind them, even more behemoths could be seen scrambling to the top.     

Parker placed the transparent crystal into his mouth and, transforming into a leopard, retreated two steps and forcefully charged towards the cliff, leaping outwards.     

"Parker!" Bai Qingqing shrieked.     

Roar! A behemoth chased to the cliffside and couldn't stop its tracks in time. After halting two seconds by the edge of the cliff, it fell off.     

The leopard fully stretched his body in the air and maintained this elegant position for a long time before charging into the crown of a tree with a "swoosh".     

The leopard clung onto a tree branch, the forceful impact causing his body to lean forwards violently. With the momentum he had gained, he swung onto another tree branch and managed to stabilize his center of gravity.     

Bai Qingqing's heart was put to ease.     

This Parker really gave her a good scare.     

Bang—!     

At this moment, the behemoth that fell off the cliff landed amongst the horde of behemoths, killing two of its kind with its fall. It made a splatter, like when water was poured into a pot of hot oil.
