The Mysterious Black Magician

A traitor

A traitor

"I can't believe I've done nothing to help defend the city," Bob, who was walking beside Yman, said in regret.

"Me as well," Chloe also expressed her regret.

Yman looked at them. He saw the frustration on their faces.

"Well, it can't be helped. Those vigilantes attacked right after most of the students were exhausted and could not use resonance with their deities temporarily. They seem to have planned their invasion well. "

"You're right, bro. But I'm still bitter because I really haven't done anything. Other than that, I almost died and almost lost my deity. Tsk! I really can't forgive them in case they come back," Bob gritted his teeth.

"Eh? It's better that they don't come back," Yman replied with a faint smile.

"Ahaha. Of course, it's better that they don't come back," Bob rubbed the back of his head.

"By the way, it's good that you arrived safely at the evacuation shelter yesterday," Yman said as he gazed at Bob.

"Honestly, we also encountered some enemies on our way towards the temporary shelter. We're just lucky that a group of second-year students, led by a student named Jun, arrived there and helped us. He had some strong second-year companions with him. Along with mercenaries, Sir Ultima and Vortex, they were able to defeat the enemies who were ambushing us."

"Is that so?"

"He's right, Yman," Chloe said.

"By the way, bro, what is going to happen to the competition?" Bob suddenly asked.

"I don't know. I think they will announce it later," Yman replied.

"Is that so? Good then. Do you think they will continue the competition?" Bob asked again.

"Maybe. However, I don't know if it will be made public. Maybe if they continue the competition, the fight will definitely not be held in the park again. I think it's just inside the academy and then they just live it through video."

"Ah, you're right. That's safer," Bob said.

Along with Rea, Chloe, and Bob, the four of them were walking toward the academy together with their deities.

While Yman and Bob were talking, Chloe suddenly turned to Rea.

"By the way, Rea. I hope we're in the same class."

Rea smiled faintly. "Yeah. I also hope I'm in the same class with everyone."

From this day, Rea will be attending the academy as well. She would be attending as a transfer student.

The first day they arrived here, Yman already took care of the necessary procedures. But actually, he asked Miss Pai's help with it. So, it was Miss Pai who took care of everything for Rea's transfer. He felt ashamed that he had to rely on her for almost everything.

When they arrived at the academy, Yman, Sistela, and Rea went to the faculty first to meet with Miss Pai while Bob and Chloe and their deities went to their respective dressing rooms to change into their training attire and go to the training ground after where the other first-year trainees like them were gathering.

Arriving in front of the faculty door, Yman knocked three times on it.

After knocking, they heard someone's voice from inside, urging them to come inside.

When they entered, they noticed that only Miss Pai was there. She was in front of her desk, working on something on her monitor. But she stopped when she saw them.

"Yman, bring your friend here!" She called out.

Along with Rea and Sistela, they went to where Miss Pai was.

Yman looked around upon arriving in front of her desk. "Where are the other faculty members?" He asked.

He noticed that except for Miss Pai, the other staff were not there.

"They are in a serious meeting right now," Miss Pai responded.

Yman looked at her. "You're not included?"

"I'm a trustworthy worker, so I don't need to go," said Miss Pai proudly to herself.

"Eh… What do you mean, Miss Pai?"

"I should not disclose any information but… since it's you… I guess I will tell you."

Yman just smirked. "Aren't you spoiling me too much?"

"You've just realized that? I'm amazed," said Miss Pai in a slightly teasing tone.

He fell silent and smiled wryly.

Rea glared at Yman. "Heh~ you two seemed so close…" She whispered, but he heard it.

Question marks appeared on top of Yman's head as he asked her, "E-eh? What's the matter, Rea?"

Rea glared at him. "Humph, n-nothing," she said while puffing her cheek.

Right at that moment, "We're not only close. We even used to live together and even used to bathe together."

Suddenly sweat dripped down Yman's back at that moment. He suddenly felt a strange cold as if cold water had poured over him.

To his right, he noticed a smiling face, but there was something about that smile. It didn't seem like a genuine smile. Something was hidden behind that smile that even Yman himself didn't want to ask what it was.

"Eh? Miss Pai, what are you saying?!" Yman asked in haste.

He noticed Miss Pai smirking at him. He could tell she was teasing him. It was unusual for her to tease him, so Yman did not anticipate that.

Luckily, before the pressure inside the room became unbreathable, someone interrupted them.

Sistela, who was sitting on his shoulder this whole time, suddenly said that.

The three of them then focused their attention and tried to listen. Just as Sistela said, some shouts were coming from the room next to the faculty room.

(What the hell did you do, bastard?!) Someone asked.

(Hiiih! I-I am s-sorry! Whaaa!)

They heard those yells. It was followed by a loud sound. Based on the sound, it was as if someone tapped the table so hard.

Yman looked at Miss Pai. "Isn't the next room the Meeting Room?" He asked her.

"That's right," Miss Pai nodded.

"Could it be that what you're about to tell me is related to that?"

"Well… I guess it is."

"I see. Right Miss Pai, who's that person who cried just now?" Yman asked curiously.

"That's Mr. Trillo. One of the vigilante captives sang his name when the armies interrogated him."

"A traitor?"

"Maybe."

"Well. No one is sure of it at the moment. That's why they held a meeting to try to interrogate him. And learn from his mouth if he truly is a traitor."

"I see."

After that small talk, they finally talked about their reason for coming to the faculty.

Yman and Sistela just stayed silent while Miss Pai gave Rea a slight briefing.

After a few minutes, Miss Pai handed Rea a piece of paper.

"Yman, can you lead her to the testing room, so that she could get her evaluation paper there."

Yman nodded. "Sure," after saying that, he glanced at Rea and told her, "Let's go?"

"Okay," Rea nodded.

They were about to leave but Miss Pai suddenly called out to Yman.

"Wait, Yman!"

The two stopped on their feet and simultaneously looked at Miss Pai.

"Yes, Miss Pai?"

"Uh, Elona told me that she wanted to see you. If you're free, can you visit her lab?" Said Miss Pai.

"Is that so? Okay."

"By the way, when Rea finished her evaluation exam, bring her back to pass all the papers to me, is that okay?"

"Yes. We'll do that."
