The nineteen years old Shao Yao mumbled with disappointment while showing a sad expression on her face while Shao Yanlin, seventeen years old, and the second lady of the Shao let out a pout while carelessly playing with the hair accessory she received from her third brother.
"Well, at least, Little Cheng left us a letter while that annoying fake brother is gone."
"Hmph! Big Sisters didn't believe me when I said to never put too much hope when he changes his attitude!"
Shao Chia complains with a murderous expression on her face before ignoring her two older sisters trying to give a reason for their Third Brother's actions of leaving again. However, when she turned around, there is a glimmer of water on her eyes after unconsciously staring, well glaring, toward her third brother's courtyard.
"I told you It's suspicious how he suddenly changed! Now, look! He left again!"
The first and second lady of the Shao Family heard the unspoken 'Me' in their youngest words, and Shao Chia who saw the expression on her two older sisters' faces, had violently stamped her feet on the ground before leaving the pavilion where her two older sisters had been moping.
"I won't forgive him this time!"
I won't give him a chance to hurt me again!!!
"Ah… our Little Cheng would have difficulty getting Little Chia forgiveness this time when he comes back… they are quite similar with the length of stubbornness."
"Well, I'm sure the two of them will still get along well. It might just take some time."
Most likely to our Little younger sister though, Little Cheng can still be cold and indifferent despite the change we saw.
Shao Yao couldn't help but let out a sigh while Shao Yanlin pinch her nose, which was unladylike action, however, the two of them knew that no matter how they tried to act like those other elegant and graceful young ladies filled with virtue in the Capitals, they couldn't do the same.
Although, it hurts to be laughed at by them, but they won't change the way the two of them are. Especially when they have been like their Mothers when they are young.
Even if they only have genuine friends, which were from similar aristocratic families with military lineage, it's better than having vile and vicious friends who will stab them in the back.
"Hm, I'll go ask our Mother Yanmei about some of the medicinal recipes that our Third Brother wrote for her. I'm sure there are some recipes we could let our grandfather try out."
"I'll go take some wine that our Third Brother made, I'm sure it would extremely delight our grandfather."
In the Shao residence, the atmosphere had been low after Shao Cheng had once again left to his wanderlust. Although it was far better than before since he left a message and told them he will be gone again.
Unlike before when there isn't even a single notice, but, the anxiousness and fear they all felt about 'what if he returned to the same attitude again' couldn't easily be ignored.
"Is Little Cai not coming with us this year?"
Shao Yao walked together with her second sister with their hands holding each other, showing the strong bond and affection they have. If people didn't know it, they would have thought that the two of them are born as twins like their mothers.
However, Shao Yao is born to Su Chunhua, while Shao Yanlin is born to Su Yanmei.
It didn't stop Shao Yao and Shao Yanlin from acting out like real twins with strong bonds.
"No, he wanted to stay with his friend, since there was something going on and he wanted to stay by his side."
Shao Yao and Shao Yanlin stare at each other, then voicing out at the same time the suspicious in their minds.
"Don't you think our youngest brother is falling in love?"
The two of them could only let out a sigh because their two younger brothers sure are getting ahead in romance when the two of them don't even have people liking them. Or more likely, there are no men with sincere and genuine affections toward them, only eying their family status.
Then, the two of them remember their second brother Chonglin that had been acting strange lately, or more likely, always disappearing somewhere, definitely meeting someone he didn't want anyone to know.
"Oh, that poor guy. He doesn't seem to have a chance with our second brother."
"I know right? I find him extremely pitiful after years of trying and only being misunderstood in the end by our second brother."
Shao Yao and Shao Yanlin might have been loveless, but, they are quite sharp when it comes to the people who have sincere feelings toward their siblings. And although they knew about Mo Xuan's secret affections, but their family seemed to have stubbornness deep within their blood.
It just depends on how strong it is.
Even if they tried to voice out what that man is trying to do, but their second brother wouldn't listen and take their words seriously. The only miracle they can think of convincing their second brother to listen is if it was their Third Brother Cheng doing it, which was simply impossible to even happen.
"Do you think our older brother Yan found someone he likes?"
"Eh, well, I got some suspicions, but it's still too early to make a guess."
Shao Yao and Shao Yanlin stopped walking since the route they are taking is in different directions. The two of them could only stare at each other with unreadable emotions in their eyes since there have been some thoughts bugging them lately.
Particularly after witnessing their brother's situation, before finally voicing out their decision without even needing to discuss it since the two of them ended up thinking the same thing.
"... We should get together with a man."
After all, if men can get together, even if it's rarer, but women can also fall for each other.
Besides, they are already seeing a certain pattern regarding their brother's future relationship, even their Mothers seem to have considered if all their sons are going to end up together with the male gender.
Especially when they aren't ignorant of how their Mothers have been acting clingy and far lovey-dovey toward their Fathers than normally is, especially after Mother Yanmei is getting better. If their father doesn't need to leave to the borders most of the time, well, there is a high chance another sibling had been born in the past.
And now, with Little Cheng finally integrating into their life, especially with their Mother Yanmei's health showing signs of getting better, well, they wouldn't be surprised if they will have another sibling this year.
After all, the two of them aren't ignorants about their Mothers escapade during the nighttime with their pitiful Father, who is being attacked with too much love. Although, they knew their Father was also happy with the entire situation.
How could he not? It's well-known how he loves his two wives to death.
"Well, I don't think I will fall for some women but, yeah. We would marry a man, of course, without being forced."
Shao Yanlin nodded her head while a certain annoying person couldn't help but flash in her mind before it quickly disappeared. Fortunately, her older sister seemed to not notice her split second of distraction.
Even if they think alike, it doesn't mean the two of them know what is completely going on in their minds.
"Well, I also don't feel like falling for a woman. I have nothing against it but I could tell how I prefer the male gender."
Shao Yao knew her obsession or passion regarding those elegant and cultural people despite being born into a family with more focus on military stuff. She just found them pleasing to the eyes, so she was sure she would end up getting together with a scholar, at least a person with a scholarly atmosphere around him.
Of course, she knew how hard it would be to find a genuine man in her mind, especially when some of them have certain biases and dislikes toward the people with military backgrounds since they sometimes found them barbaric.
Shao Yao honestly feels like she will be the last one getting together with someone among her siblings. Even she knew how Shao Chia had a certain crush on another young man despite being the youngest.
Especially now that their Third Brother, someone they have already assumed would remain single for the rest of his life, found himself a man. Even though the two young men's relationship is a kind of confusing and chaotic most of the time.
"Alright, if we are going to get married, at least one of us has to remain in our family."
To make sure there is someone to continue their bloodline and inherit their family, so, between the two of them, their future husband needed to marry off into their family instead of both of them going to be married off into another family.
"I'm alright with that decision."
"Yeah."
Shao Yao and Shao Yanlin nodded their heads as they voiced their final decision about their future love life. As for their future husband's opinion, well, if they honestly love them, then they shouldn't mind being married into the Shao Family.
Selfish of them? However, they wanted to find a person similar to their father when it comes to affection.
The two of them have grown up watching their father and Mothers love each other, and they wanted a similar one too. They won't go for less than that, if they couldn't find someone then they don't mind remaining single their entire life.
After all, there is still little Chia to continue their family legacy if they failed at it. Even their mothers might have become pregnant later on.
"I'll see you later Sister Yanlin."
"Yes, I'll see you later Sister Yao."
Shao Yao and Shao Yanlin happily smiled at each other before letting go of the hand they were holding and turning in different directions in the Shao Residence. One toward their Mother's residence, while the other was to their Father's storeroom.
Unknown to the two of them though, they would find the love of their life and it will be filled with adventure, which had also pulled their Third Brother along in their experience.
