Fourth World: Making Fudge With Dad

Fourth World: Making Fudge With Dad

0One of the ways parents bond with their kids these days is by cooking or baking together. Research shows that it helps strengthen their bond and create lifelong memories and it seemed like this bachelor of a nerd was well aware of it. After getting bent by the male god, he was fairly certain he won't have kids of his own so he decided to live out the experience of being a father with Qie Xieling.

After washing Qie Xieling's face clean, the two head to the kitchen and ate breakfast before weighing out ingredients for banana cream fudge. The maid and two bodyguards stood by the door watching Su Xin and Qie Xieling crushing chocolate cookies in a ziplock bag with a rolling pin. Su Xin was patiently guiding Qie Xieling on how to complete the task with no trace of dissatisfaction or disdain. No matter how you looked at it, this scene was harmonious and fluffy vexing the onlookers.

The maid had heard rumours of Su Xin's situation and how he ran off to play abandoning his son. This explained why she had a horrible attitude earlier on but this scene made her think the rumours were merely slanderous words towards this loving father.

To the bodyguards that had worked for Qie Ranzhe long before Qie Xieling came into the picture, this was just one of Su Xin's tricks. Who didn't know that Su Xin loathed Qie Xieling the most? They just didn't interfere because their young master needed this regardless of Su Xin's hidden motives. The only thing they could do was watch on with high vigilance. If Su Xin so much as yells at Qie Xieling they would immediately lock the man up as per their boss's instructions.

Wen Qinxi and Qie Xieling were too busy with their masterpiece to care about the melon seed eaters watching them like hawks. With the cookie crumbs ready, Wen Qinxi helped Qie Xieling pour out some melted butter into the bowl.

"Yuck, it looks like mud," said Qie Xieling while mixing the paste with a yucky face. Wen Qinxi smirked as he scrapped a tiny amount from the side of the bowl and directed the spoon to Qie Xieling's mouth. Qie Xieling tried to tilt his head back refusing to eat it but he was no match for his dad so that spoon effortlessly landed in his mouth.

His expression changed drastically as his taste buds received enlightenment, an introduction to a whole new world. Mind blown, he tried to have some more and this time it was an entire spoonful but before the spoon reached his mouth, his hand was suddenly stopped.

No matter how hard he tried to move it closer it was pointless. Feeling aggrieved, he eyed Su Xin with a glare that seemed to say 'you dare', which normally worked on servants but this was Wen Qinxi. This trick naturally didn't work on him. "Little ancestor, if you eat all the mud then we won't be able to make fudge. Now be good and put it down," said Wen Qinxi with a warm smile that had Qie Xieling hypnotised to the point of dropping the spoon like a hot potato.

He didn't know why Su Xin was being nice neither did he know the reason why the man kept his word and didn't desert him. Part of him wanted to be obedient hoping it would make Su Xin want to stay but at the same time, he also wanted to test the limits. How troublesome?

Curious to know the final result, Qie Xieling helped flatten the cookie crumb paste or as he calls it tasty mud in a large baking pan. He curiously watched as his dad placed white chocolate chips, banana pudding mix and some miscellaneous ingredients in a saucepan forming a smooth paste. Su Xin even let him mix it, a task he found to be rather interesting.

The two poured the mix on top of the tasty mud and after smoothing out the surface, they placed it in the refrigerator.

"Good job Lin Lin, we are done," said Wen Qinxi tossing the dishes in the sink but Qie Xieling didn't move staring at the closed refrigerator door in confusion. Seeing his son not moving an inch, Wen Qinxi said, "It's not going to set any faster by you staring at the fridge door," in a half-joking tone.

Qie Xieling frowned in displeasure. He innocently thought he would be eating now. All his life he never waited for food so what was this situation? Wen Qinxi read the kid's mind and diverted his attention by proposing they play a game. The fudge needed some time to set so he roped the kid into playing chess.

The two had so much fun that they even forgot they had fudge in the fridge. It could only be said that Wen Qinxi was still a kid at heart because he seemed to enjoy horsing around with Qie Xieling all day. It was after Qie Xieling came over with a blow dryer after bathing preparing for bedtime, did they recall the fudge in the fridge.

Wen Qinxi blow dried Qie Xieling's hair which felt soft to the touch. He had done this countless times for Wen Dazhe but stopped when his brother thought it was funny to put baby powder in the blow dryer. Once Wen Qinxi switched it on, half his face was suddenly covered in white powder making him resemble Casper the friendly ghost though he wasn't friendly in the slightest. From then on he refused to blow dry Wen Dazhe's hair.

Having not done this for a long time, Wen Qinxi enjoyed it and vowed to blow dry the kid's hair every day in this world. Wen Qinxi wasn't the only one enjoying this experience, Qie Xieling was head over heels. If he knew a dad could be this fun he would have had his daddy lock up Su Xin a long time ago. Too bad for Su Xin, he was no longer allowed to leave even after the summer vacation. Now that he had personally experienced having a dad how could he let go of Su Xin?

Wen Qinxi naturally didn't know he had already been sentenced to life without parole, not that he would have a problem with it. He led Qie Xieling to the kitchen and took out the glorious banana cream fudge and handed the boy some sprinkles. Like an amateur, Qie Xieling went crazy with it after adding melted white chocolate topping.
