Chasing After My Wife

THE LAWYER CAME

THE LAWYER CAME

That afternoon, Jillyanna was inside the study room, checking the research that her mother did few years back. She held on to her mother's belonging when she died. She scanned all her research papers and placed it on a tiny pikachu designed flash drive. After that she deleted all the files and burned all the papers. The only remaining paper she didn't burn was their marriage certificate and the unsigned divorce papers.

Nobody thought that the keychain she always bring wherever she went was the answer to their non-stop harassment and chasing.

"They were all idiots!" Jillyanna commented while reading the details of the research. Even though she's smart, she hates physics and math. She skimmed through the files and removed the drive when she was done. She deleted all her traces like how Shein taught her. She also told Shein to hack her laptop to make sure that nothing remains of the project.

"Sis, we will have a little celebration later for Riley's new project. Do you want to come?" Shein asked her through a phone call since he was busy checking her laptop from afar.

"You guys enjoy. I have things to do later." Jillyanna refused his offer for dinner. "Ask Riley to drop by the hospital tomorrow morning. I have something for her."

"Okay. I'll let her know." Jillyanna could her the sounds of keyboards being pressed and her smile was spreading from ear to ear. "Sis, everything's fine. Nothing's left regarding the research. Are you really going to hold on to that forever?"

"Nope. I am just waiting for someone. If ever she chose to take the same field as my mom, I'll give this to her."

"Jenny?"

"Yes. She will be entering college soon and she once told me that she wanted to be a heart surgeon. If she hasn't change her mind, I'll give this to her. If not, I'll sell this research."

"That's a good idea. I hope Jenny will proceed though. It will be a big help to her."

"Right. I agree."

"Anyway sis, I have to go look for Jackie now. We still have to take care of your empire. Bye now." Shein ended the call since he had to deal with some matter that Jackie asked him to find. It was for a variety show that Riley wanted to take part in before the filming of her movie starts.

Jillyanna was all alone again in her the study room. She played with her phone to pass the time because she didn't want to go back to the hospital yet.

Not long after the call ended, Jillyanna received an e-mail from the attorney that Dr. Sweden mentioned. It was attorney Lewis who handled his father's affairs.

The last time Jillyanna visited her father's company was when the time her mother looked for him. After that, she never stepped foot in that building. She wouldn't even spare it a single glance whenever she passed by it.

The attorney was asking her if she could make time for him that afternoon. Without any hesitation, Jillyanna told him to come over to her house to discuss whatever issue her father has.

"Is he guilty that he wouldn't even face me directly?" Jillyanna mumbled while typing her reply to the man. "Now I remember, this attorney was the one who gave us the house transfer documents. Why didn't he tell us anything back then? He could've just told us everything. Duhh!" She rolled her eyes at the thought while waiting for his reply. When she got his response, Jillyanna closed her laptop and brought it back to her room.

She was lying on her bed again to relax her nerves, got nothing else to do so she decided to check on Travis, even if it means she would be disappointed.

Contrary to her expectation, Travis woke up around 11 o'clock. She watched him the moment he opened his eyes and the frown he's got while looking around. He wasn't saying anything and he didn't move around. He was just moving his head from left to right then back to left.

Jillyanna looked at the time and found that he was conscious for almost five minutes. However, in that five minutes he didn't even mention her name or looked for her. He remained silent while observing the place he was in.

Jillyanna couldn't stop herself from crying. She was getting more worried every single day that had passed. Not once did she hear him call her name. And looking at his expression, he looked like a lost child, confused and worried.

Jillyanna watched it over and over again even though there wasn't any changes. It was still the same silent Travis.

Jillyanna fast-forwarded the time but there was no other moment of his conscious state. He had been sleeping all the way until at the moment she was checking the current time.

"I'll check it again tonight." Jillyanna murmured before closing her laptop once again. This time, she finally placed it inside her bag.

She's left with nothing to do again so she went outside and walked towards the kitchen to drink a glass of milk. She went to the back garden and saw Auntie Fei cutting some dead leave from the flower plants.

"Jillyanna, don't come out. It's very dusty and it is not good for your health." Auntie Fei told her and ushered her back to the house. "Stay inside. Call me if you need anything but don't come out."

Jillyanna just smiled at the kind woman and behaved herself. She was just about to go upstairs when she spotted a man who came down from a black car.

Jillyanna looked at the old man who was looking at her house. She decided to see him personally in case he needed something.

"Are you Ms. Jillyanna?" the man asked while looking at her from head to toe. "You've grown."

"Are you the lawyer?"

"Yes."

"Oh! Come in. I didn't recognize you." Jillyanna led him inside with a shaking hand. She was trying to relax earlier but now she's getting nervous again.
