Chasing After My Wife

HER FATHER'S LOVE I

HER FATHER'S LOVE I

Jillyanna called Auntie Sisi to prepare some refreshments for Atty. Lewis before she brought him inside the study room.

Brown saw the man following behind Jillyanna and his head were ringing the alarm bells. "This is bad news." He muttered to himself but Valkyrie heard him clearly who was standing behind him.

"What's bad news?" he asked him since he didn't get to see the man who entered the study room with Jillyanna.

Brown turned to face him, worried and undecided as to what he should do next. "Remember the time that Travis asked us to investigate Jillyanna's father, we found his connection to Atty. Lewis right?"

"Uh huh. What about it?"

"That Atty. Lewis is currently inside Jillyanna's study room. She can't be agitated now. Her emotions shouldn't be stirred so much or she will die! Do you understand what I'm saying?!"

"Oh god! What should we do?" Valkyrie was starting to sweat coldly, too. "If she finds out about her father, she..oh god! This is making me crazy."

Brown bit his lower lips while thinking for a way. As friends, they also wanted her to know the truth about her father but she has a baby and her heart was no longer in good condition. Just thinking about it made the shiver from fear.

"I think..I think Jillyanna is a strong woman. She must be prepared to face the truth now." Brown stated in hesitation. Yes, she was strong but he didn't know if she can handle the information that she's about to find.

While they were still hesitating, Jillyanna was already sitting on the couch across the lawyer who she had never seen after so many years.

"So tell me, what do you know about my father?" Jillyanna asked without beating around the bushes. She couldn't waste so much time in this matter so she asked him immediately.

"Let me tell you a story instead. This will tell you everything you want to know." Atty. Lewis suggested while pushing his glasses back to keep it in place on the bridge of his nose. Despite his old age, you can clearly see his handsome features when he was young. He was very meticulous and organized as well. You can't even see a single crease on his suit.

"Go ahead. I'm listening." Jillyanna leaned on the back of her seat and paid attention to the information that the lawyer provided.

"A long time ago..." Atty. Lewis started like how other people tell a story about fairytale. The only difference was, he wasn't going to tell her a fairytale.

Anton Xavier and Elizabeth Morris grew up in the same orphanage. They were children who were thrown away by their parents, picked up by the good Samaritans and were brought to the orphanage to be taken care of.

When they were young, Elizabeth showed interest in Science and Mathematics. She spent most of her time inside the mini library with Anton sleeping beside her.

"Anton. Anton." she called out to the sleeping boy by her side who was snoring away the time they had. "Anton wake up. It's almost night time."

"Hmmm. Five more minutes." Anton murmured in his sleep so Elizabeth waited for another five minutes.

When the time was up, she pinched his face to wake him up completely. "Wake up now! The library is closing already!"

"Ahh! Ahhw! Ouch!" he exclaimed exaggeratedly to make her feel guilty. "That hurts."

"If you know it hurts, wake up when I call you." Elizabeth argued back at him while carrying the books back to the place where she got them.

"Let me carry that for you." Anton took the pile of books and carried it to the shelves were Science and Mathematics can be found. "You really enjoyed these things, don't you?"

"Oh Anton! You don't know how interesting these things are but I am glad you keep me companied even though I am boring."

"You are not boring." Anton told her while he returned the books one after the other. "In my opinion, you are very different from the other girls here. You are lovely."

"Shut up! You are speaking nonsense again." Elizabeth poked his side with her index finger. "By the way, sister Ani will give me a bunch of stems tomorrow, help me plant it, okay?"

"Sure. I'll help you make a beautiful garden. I'll help you plant all the roses that you like." Anton answered her happily before placing the last book on the shelf. "Let's go back. Sister Ani will be worried."

"It's your fault." Elizabeth stated as they go out of the library. The sky was getting dark and the red-orange rays of the setting sun made the sky a beautiful sight. "Beautiful, isn't it?

Elizabeth was staring up at the sky as she asked the question while Anton was staring at her. "Beautiful indeed."

Elizabeth just smiled at his confirmation but she didn't know that Anton had a different meaning to his answer. Nevertheless, they didn't dwell on it.

As they said, happiness wouldn't last for long. When Elizabeth turned ten years old, Mrs. Summer who gives donation to the orphanage spotted her planting a bunch of rose stems on the ground with a young boy.

Then and there, she decided to adopt her. And she didn't make a mistake in choosing her. The little girl showed interest in Science and Mathematics.

Anton was left in orphanage with no other friends. Most of his time was spent in the little garden that he and Elizabeth made. He would pull out the weeds, water the plants, removed the dead leaves, fertilize them and so on. He waited for her to come back and it took him a year of waiting before he saw her again. Just as he last remembered, she was still the same beautiful girl in his memory. The lovely Elizabeth who loves to read about life and organisms.

"Hey! Liza, it's been a long time." Anton called out to the girl who was standing in front of the garden they made. He was cheerfully smiling as he came running towards her.

Elizabeth turned her head and found a boy who seemed to be the same age as her. "Who are you?"
