Chasing After My Wife

NEW ENEMIES

NEW ENEMIES

After the storm, her world was back in peace, or that's what she thought. Two weeks had passed since Travis got hospitalized and since she worked as the acting CEO. She thought people learned their lesson already but there were some that didn't.

She was sitting in her office room with Savannah and Shein who had the same gloomy expression as her. Jackie came as well upon reading the issue online.

Last Friday, when she went back to the hospital from visiting Simon and her parents, she continued to work. She found a proposal from the city council to build a government-owned apartment which will be used by students or by workers. The location was the largest portion of vacant land belonging to the Venus Plaza.

Upon review, Jillyanna found many loopholes on the project. It will just be a waste to start doing a project which will end up in a drainage. Most of the project money will just be pocketed by the city council and she hated those kinds of people.

She refused the proposal after half an hour of review without bothering herself to contact the city council personally. She would never accept bribes even if you were the president of the nation. She would not waste the money of those workers who paid their taxes.

When the city council found out from the council secretary that the proposal was rejected, they were fuming with rage. How can they not? They can't pocket anything if the project won't go through.

And because of that, they dug up several issues of Jillyanna. They posted several pictures of her with different men. The funny thing was, the men on the pictures with her were Valkyrie, Brown, Hawk and Lucian.

"Why didn't they include me? I'm a man in your life, too!" Shein sulked on the side while reading the news from Savannah's laptop.

"Indeed. They were wrong." Savannah tried to comfort the young man beside her. "Do you want to deal with them?"

"Why not?" Shein smiled like nothing happened and took out his own laptop. "Can I really do this?" he asked Jillyanna who was sitting across them with Jackie.

Jillyanna was thinking what to do when her phone rang. She signaled everyone to keep quiet first before answering her phone.

"Hello?"

"Mrs. Madrigal, do you like my little gifts to you?" asked the man on the other line. "It was so easy getting your pictures. And I tell you, those were not edited."

"Of course it is not." Jillyanna answered him with a faint laugh. "How could it be edited when I am spending so much time with those men. And one more thing, you forgot one man."

"You! You bitch!"

"I'm a bitch. So what? Me being a bitch doesn't concern you."

"Oh! You must have slept your way to get Travis. Are you that good in bed? Heh! You must be."

"Even if I am good in bed, you will never know." Jillyanna snickered coldly.

The man was fuming with rage and ended the call abruptly. She didn't care what others would think but she won't let them trample her name.

"Release the news about the city council's proposal being rejected." Jillyanna told Shein which made the little guy so happy. "Let's wait for their response after that."

Shein's fingers danced over the keyboard as he typed the news article that he is going to publish. "Will it still be under Mr. Tamo's name?"

"Hn. Write it under his name." Jillyanna replied nonchalantly.

Shein wrote the article and published it to different websites again under the name of Andrei Tamo. Last time, the reporter was so shocked that his bank account received a lot of money from different tabloids and news online. When he checked what happened, he immediately called Jillyanna. He didn't know she would do that for him. He thought she was just joking when she said that you will be famous again.

Andrei felt like he was just depending on her and he didn't like the idea. While thinking what to do, another news explode and it was still written under his name.

He called Jillyanna immediately to discuss the matter. "Mrs. Madrigal?"

"Yes?" Jillyanna replied shortly.

"I am grateful for the help you gave but I don't want to depend on you. I want to work for our own money." Andrei stopped and waited for her response.

Jillyanna scoffed and sneered. "You want to work? Of course you have to work but who will take care of your daughter? You will look for a nanny? Instead of paying a nanny, why don't you just take care of your child? I am not really doing this because of you but your name made my plans more convenient. I just happen to need a reporter and your name is available. Don't be so bothered with the money you earn, it's a payment for helping me."

Andrei understood what she meant. She was exposing people using his name as a reporter and sold the news to different sites. She was fighting for herself and for her love ones while helping him in the process.

"Thank you so much Mrs. Madrigal."

"No big deal. Take care of your daughter. Bye."

When the call ended, Andrei looked at his daughter who was watching a movie in the living room. She finally regained her strength and could walk on her own slowly. She also understood the fact that her mother left but, she didn't really care about it. Her mother didn't care about them. She only cared about the money that her father earned.

"Papa, are we really going to stay here from now on?" his daughter asked all of a sudden while keeping her eyes on the TV.

"Yes sweetie. This is our house now." Andrei answered her. He still had some money left after the hospitalization of his child. He sold all of his other properties and saved up the money. He bought a small house which was enough for the two of them and moved out of their dilapidated apartment. Jillyanna was really a blessing to them.
