Chasing After My Wife

WINTER'S INVOLVEMENT

WINTER'S INVOLVEMENT

Gabriel knocked on Winter's door but she didn't open it. He expected that to happen so he wasn't the least bit surprise at all.

"Winter open the door. You know it is easy for me to rig this or I can just kick it. Which one do you want me to do?" He called out to her even though he knew that she wouldn't be able to hear him clearly. All of the rooms inside the mansion were customized to be soundproofed except for the maid's quarter and their bodyguards' room.

Winter heard his muffled voice outside and she knew that he was up to no good again. She already had a hunch that he was either going to kick the door or rig it. It happened many times in the past that she had to change her door multiple times because of him.

Still looking pale, she opened the door and found him raising his foot to kick it. She massaged her temple upon seeing this sight and felt an oncoming headache. "Don't you dare kick my door here!"

"Eat something warm. You look pale and unsightly." he commented while getting inside her room uninvited. He was holding a tray with a warm chicken soup inside for her. "If your head still hurts, drink this medicine." he handed her a piece of tablet for pain reliever.

"What are you trying to do now?" Winter asked him without leaving the place where she stood. She didn't close the door either to make sure that she can escape if he will make a move against her.

Gabriel smiled at her before walking out of the room. "I am just sending your food here. I'll get the empty bowls later. Make sure to eat it."

For the first time in history, he left without a fuss which surprised the hell out of Winter. She had prepared herself to battle it out with him if he will do something again but her expectation didn't happen.

"Yes. I'll eat it. You can go out now. Thanks." She pushed him out of her room as quickly as possible before he would change his mind.

Gabriel was laughing internally as he watched her expression. Distracted with her, he didn't notice that a picture fell from the album that he was holding. "I'll come back later."

Winter didn't answer and just closed the door in front of him. She was ecstatic to see him leave her without her saying anything rude to him. It was really a great surprise.

She walked towards the rows of cabinet where Gabriel placed the tray. She was about to pick it up when she saw a photo on the floor. She picked the picture first before picking the tray and went to her mini lounge to eat.

In the other room, Travis and Jillyanna talked about the incident without leaving any information behind. She needed to know the truth or she won't be able to face Winter again.

"I was kidnapped with Winter. Most of the time, they would inflict pain on me. Winter was just caught up with me since we came home together that time." He sounded melancholic as he looked back into the past. His eyes held a dismal expression and he was staring into space. "The night your mother died was also the same night that we tried to escape. She sprained her ankle when we were running, slowing her down and so our pursuers caught us. They were about to him me with a bat since I was their main target but Winter protected me."

"How did you guys escape?" Jillyanna was confused since their kidnappers caught them and it was just the two of them. Unless...

"It is just as you thought." Travis admitted, expressionless face and cold voice made him look like a merciless devil. "It was the first time I killed."

Jillyanna was speechless. She didn't know of this. She didn't know that she hated the man without knowing anything. Her heart ache for him and she didn't know what to say. Her tears started falling down her face and she wiped it with the back of her hand.

"So what happened next?" Jillyanna inquired to make sure that she knew everything even if it was painful to hear.

Travis looked at her and wiped her wet lashes with his thumb. "Sorry for making you cry again."

"I am fine." Jillyanna laughed awkwardly to hide her pain. "Go on."

Travis held her hands with his and continued speaking. "I had to kill them or we will be dead. They weren't armed, I guess it was because they were confident we won't fight back. I used the same baseball bat to beat them. I called my mother after that but she wasn't able to respond. We were then rescued by my father. That night was the longest night of my life. Due to the fact that we were kidnapped, I was deemed innocent and that my actions were of self-defense."

"So now, you are all asking Gabriel to make her remember her past?"

"Hn. Gabriel is the only person who can do that since they spent most of their times together when they were kids. And we all know he can make her happy."

"Why didn't you ask his help before? Why now?"

"Because this is the second time Winter came here ever since that accident. She came home because of you and I am thankful for that." Travis kissed the back of her hand before he continued to talk. "Winter hated the farm so much and we don't know why."

"Do you think I can help her? I mean, maybe she'd remember if I say something. My mother was involved in this matter after all." Jillyanna commented.

"You can give it a try. You don't have to feel guilty if it won't work." Travis nodded her head. "I hope she'll remember something though. Even if it is just a little bit.

While they were talking about Winter's involvement in that kidnapping incident, the subject of their conversation was knocking furiously on Gabriel's door.

"Gab! Open this door! We need to talk right now! Open this goddamn door!" She kicked it and knocked on it but when it was opened, she blushed from what she saw and throw a punch on his chest. "Put on your damn clothes!"
