Chasing After My Wife

CONFRONTATION WITH THEIR PAST I

CONFRONTATION WITH THEIR PAST I

Jillyanna came back to her house, all wet from head to toe. She didn't bother taking of her shoes and just stormed in directly.

"Oh shit! You just recovered from your fever and you're drenched!" Valkyrie exclaimed and was about to get a towel when Jillyanna stopped him.

"No need. I am fine." she turned around and walked as fast as she could back to her room. Valkyrie and Hawk looked at each other when they heard her slamming the door closed.

Hawk didn't ask or expressed his opinion but took out a mop from the storage room and cleaned the foot marks on the floor.

Not long after, Travis came in with a dark face, all wet from head to toe just like Jillyanna. He kicked his shoes out of the way and ran barefooted to her room.

'Knock. Knock. Knock.'

No response. He knocked again but it was still quiet.

"Jill, let's talk please. Let me explain."

"Stop calling me that name! I don't know you! Get out of my house! Bring your friends with you and don't let me see you again!" she shouted back at him from the inside.

"Wifey, I'm sorry but we really need to talk." he called out again. "You can punch me! You can kick me! You can do anything! Just open the door wifey!"

"My god! You're annoying! Stop calling me names! There's nothing to be discussed between us! Can't you just leave me alone? I've been living peacefully all these years! Why must you ruin it?"

Pain. Betrayal. Regret. Frustration. Annoyance. Travis could clearly make out these emotions from her voice. He can clearly hear her sobbing.

He sat on the floor and leaned his back on her door.

Silence. A deafening silence enveloped the house. You could only hear the 'piti-pat-piti-pat' of raindrops whenever it touches the roof, the plants and the ground.

Brown was drinking a hot choco that was given by Valkyrie. Hawk was also cooking food for them to eat.

"Sorry, we had to leave Savannah back at the mansion." Brown said while blowing his hot drink.

Hawk didn't turn his head to look at him but he still responded while chopping the onions. "It's fine. She informed me what happened so I expected her to be staying there."

Brown just nodded his head. Valkyrie stood up and patted his head. "I'll get a towel for you. Wait for me here."

He jogged up the stairs and found Travis sitting on the floor, outside of Jillyanna's room. He didn't say anything and just continued walking to his room.

When he got out, he brought a sweatpants, shirts and towels. He gave Travis a shirt and a towel to wipe his hair and body.

He went back to the kitchen and gave Brown the clothes to change.

Travis removed his wet t-shirt and wiped his body with the towel before changing with the shirt given by Valkyrie then rubbed his hair with the towel.

"Wifey, I am not leaving here. You can kick me out, I'll go back. You can punch me, I'll let you. If you won't come out, it's fine. Can you just listen to me?" He spoke in a low voice, so faint that Jillyanna could barely hear him. Still, she was able to hear what he was saying.

"Years ago, we parted our ways with pain and hatred. I can understand if you won't forgive me cause I also think the same way. What I did was horrible, I almost caused your death. When you were sent abroad for operation, I was left with guilt. All these years, I lived with guilt. I was so guilty and ashamed for what happened so I didn't dare show my face in front of you. When my mother died, she asked me to find you and take care of you. Maybe because of what happened, my father kept your whereabouts from me." He spoke outside the room while Jillyanna was sobbing inside.

She had been trying to calm her heart but her tears won't stop flowing out of her eyes. "I hate you for what you did. I still hate you until now. You knew you're the first friend I had yet you broke me apart. Did you really think it wasn't painful? You cursed me and my mom! Now my mother's gone! You know what, I was happy when your mother died after a year. But that happiness didn't even last a minute. Do I really have to suffer so much?"

"I'm sorry. I didn't really mean it that way. I was jealous, yes. However, I didn't really want your mom to be gone. I'm sorry."

"What can your sorry do? Can it bring her back to life? And oh, Enzo mentioned before, if it wasn't because of you, she wouldn't have died." she stated with a heavy heart. Even if she wanted to deny it, even if she wanted to forgive him, she would always be reminded of her mother's death.

"Jill, I didn't know about this."

"Stop calling me Jill! I don't like it!" she snapped at him, making him fall into silence. "Did you just go along with my plans because you knew me from the start?"

"No." Travis answered immediately. It's the most crucial question that needed to be justified. He turned to face the door and spoke. "I didn't know it was you. At first, I did approach you because you have the same name. However, when the information I got didn't point out to you, I stopped thinking about you as the past Jillyanna. I started seeing you as you are now. I even promised to myself not to involve with the past. I didn't know that you'd be the same person."

"Travis, don't you think it's best that we should just go on separate ways?" she asked in a soft voice. Honestly, she's been reliant on him these past few days but she was just too hurt.

"Wifey, don't do this please. What you're asking me is something I can't do. I can let you vent your anger, just don't leave me again."

What use is pride? It's not useful at all when the person you love wanted to throw you away. If he needed to beg, he will beg her to stay.
