Chasing After My Wife

GO OVERSEAS

GO OVERSEAS

He was a bit irritated but since it was his friend who called him, something must have happened for him to disturb him.

"Let me answer this call first." Travis didn't even tried stepping out from the room but he answered the call right in front of her. He turned on the speaker as well so she could hear the content of their conversation.

"I'm sorry to disturb you, Bro. Something came up and I needed your opinion on this matter." Diego mentioned immediately. He knew that Travis hated people who would take a roundabout way.

"Just speak." Travis stated calmly. Jillyanna on the other hand was rolling her eyes at him. It almost became a habit now every time she's annoyed with him.

"I don't need to hear your conversation. Go away!" she shooed him away with her hands. Travis didn't listen to her, held her hands and continued listening to Diego.

Diego was stunned to hear a woman's voice at first but he was still relieve that she's fine. He knew how stress Travis was these past few days trying to find Jillyanna. It was a good thing that he finally found her and was staying together.

"This is about the construction of the La Vida Resort overseas. There was an accident on the site and one of the people managing the construction spread a rumor of us making them overwork. Will you be flying overseas or should I go there to check on it?" Diego informed him the summary of what transpired.

"I will be looking into it personally. We all knew that they were aiming for me. Don't involve yourself on this matter." Travis responded with a serious face. It's his business and even if Diego was willing to help him, he can't just rely on him forever, specially that the other party was targeting him.

"How about Jillyanna?" Diego inquired since it hasn't been that long that he found her.

"I am fine. You can drag him overseas." Jillyanna commented upon hearing Diego's question. "You can let him stay there for how long you want. I won't mind."

"That I can't do." Diego laughed on the other end of the line when he got her answer. "I am pretty sure he would want to go back home as soon as he can."

"It's up to you guys." she stated and stood up to go to the bathroom without waiting for any response.

Travis continued talking to Diego but his eyes were focused on the bathroom door. He really wanted to bring her with him but he didn't want to put her life in danger as well.

"When will you leave?" Diego asked him when he was quiet for a minute.

Travis thought of it and he decided to end it as soon as possible. "Coordinate with my secretary. I need to leave to night. The earlier, the better."

Diego said few more words before ending the call. Jillyanna got out of the bathroom as well and climbed back to her bed. She was still feeling a bit dizzy.

"I'm leaving tonight." Travis informed her.

"Okay." she answered nonchalantly, not showing any sign of concern at all.

Travis took a deep breath and looked at her eyes directly. "I might be staying there for a week or more. Would you like to come with me?"

Jillyanna snickered and flicked his forehead lightly. "Why would I go with you? You can leave when you want to. I don't really care."

Travis caught her hand and held it. "You won't miss me?"

"No." a simple and cold-hearted answer.

"I will miss you." Travis expressed before kissing the back of her hand.

"It's not my problem." she retorted and pulled her hand back.

"I don't want to leave you."

"It's fine if you would. I don't really care."

"I'm thinking of bringing you with me."

"I'm all good staying here."

"When will you trust me?"

"When will you stop pestering me?"

This stopped Travis from saying anything. He was hurt and confused at the same time. He didn't know what's stopping her from liking him or trusting him when he was being sincere to her.

He stood up and turned his back on her. He needed to figure out a way to get in to her heart. He needed to know how he can win her.

"I will be going out for a while." he said and left her inside her room.

Jillyanna just raised her brows and twitched her red nose. Whenever she remembered his words, it really stung her nose and caused a dull ache in her heart.

'I have known all along that no one truly likes me. Still it hurts to hear it directly from his mouth.' she stated mentally while trying to hold back her tears.

"Jill, be strong. Guard your heart and don't fall in love with his words and actions. You must leave as soon as possible." she mumbled to herself while staring at the ceiling. She blinked twice to stop herself from crying.

While she was lost in her thoughts, three consecutive knocks brought her back to reality.

"Get in." she called to the person at the door.

"Hi. How are you?" It was Savannah who was holding a plater of fruits for her.

"I'm feeling better Savannah. Thanks for your concern." she replied to her with a smile.

"I am really sorry for not keeping you safe when you were under my monitoring. I neglected my duty which caused you to be in danger. I am glad you are fine." Savannah apologized and wanted to give her a deep bow but Jillyanna stopped her immediately.

"It wasn't really your fault." she scratched her nose awkwardly. "You don't have to apologize. Instead I should be thankful that you guys looked for me."

"Of course we will. Travis caused a huge chaos because you were abducted. If something happened to you, he would certainly cause havoc." Savannah responded with a faint smile this time. "Please bare with Travis."

"I can't promise you that." Jillyanna said without any expressions.

"Can you give him a chance?"

"I did but he ruined it. I am tired. Let's talk some other time." Jillyanna dismissed their conversation and slid back under her blanket.

She hated it when people think he was being serious with her but he was actually just toying her. Diego knew it as well but he still played along.

"Such good actors! It's a waste that they're not working in an entertainment industry." Jillyanna mocked in a whisper.
