Chasing After My Wife

LET'S MAKE A BET

LET'S MAKE A BET

Monday morning, Travis had to start working again. Shein came to give him the documents that needed his signature before going to the company and hand them over to those that needed it. He was very diligent at work and Riley was doing her best in the entertainment industry. Jackie went back to the Police Academy to continue her training.

"These are the food for breakfast today." Shein mentioned as he placed a bag with food containers on the table. He gave Travis the documents and waited for him to finish signing it.

"Have you finished wrapping the gifts for the children?" Jillyanna asked him since they promised to deal with it.

"Savannah and Brown were wrapping the clothes while Val and Hawk wrapped the toys. The rest were done by me and Riley. Jackie was tasked to write the names since she was the one with the best penmanship. But for today, they printed the names since Jackie had to leave for school."

"I see. It is fine." Jillyanna responded softly. "We will be giving those o the first week of December."

As they spoke, Travis was focusing on the documents on his table. He was reviewing the documents one after another. "By the way, can you inform the HR to make preparation for the year end party? It would be better if they can do it during weekends."

"Sure! They'd be very happy about that." Shein acknowledged immediately. "Shall I inform the Xavier's too? Will you do it separately?"

"We'll have a separate celebration for Venus Plaza, J Entertainment and Xaiver's. I can't accommodate a huge number of crowds at the same time." Travis responded. "Your sister shouldn't be exhausted too so, we needed to separate the celebration. Also, inform the Finance Department of the three companies that a meeting with the shareholders will be held. I will send them the details. Just let them know to proper the year's account."

"Copy that!" Shein smiled happily while noting what his brother-in-law told him in his mind. As a temporary secretary, he was really free yet he was getting a good sum of payment. He wasn't just a secretary though. He was dealing with the company's network security and at the same time, checking if anyone was leaking information outside work. So far, the employees were all good. They must have learned their lesson after Jillyanna hauled out the moles before.

Jillyanna helped him check the documents so that they can eat together. She didn't want to eat while he was working hard and while Shein was waiting.

"I'll check these documents." Jillyanna stated and picked up a stack of papers. Most of the documents sent to him were for the projects that needed a renewal of contract. Some of the companies were just renting a space to ran their business like how Jillyanna rented a place to ran their café.

"Now that I think about it, why didn't I know about you renting a place for your café before? If I had known, I could've found you sooner." Travis stated without looking at her. His eyes remained on the paper while waiting for her answer.

"The business is named under Cielo. I didn't intend to show up at all. All the paperwork was named after her and she would just give me half of the profit."

"Aren't you afraid that she won't give you any shares?" Shein inquired when he heard what her sister said. As far as he knew, Cielo wasn't her biological sister either. In fact, Jillyanna was just adopted to their family.

Jillyanna turned to face her brother and smiled. "That is exactly my plan – to have everything for her. It is the only way I know to repay their kindness after all these years. I asked her to keep the money to herself for the family but, she kept sending money to my account."

"You found yourself a good family." Shein and Travis stated in unison making Jillyanna laugh.

"I did." She nodded her head in affirmation before she continued to do her task.

Shein played with his phone while waiting for them to finish with the documents. He was told not to contact Riley in the morning due to her busy schedule. He didn't want to disturb her during work as well so he was just passing his time with his mobile games.

After an hour, Travis finished signing everything and handed the documents back to him. Shein bid goodbye and went out of the room with his backpack.

"Let's eat. It's almost nine and you haven't taken your vitamins yet." Travis took hold of her hand and led her to their small dining table. He let her sit on the chair while he arranged the dishes in front of her.

"Winter will come during lunch." Jillyanna informed him about his cousin.

"Do you want to make a bet?" Travis showed her a mischievous smile and she didn't have intention of backing down.

"What is this deal all about?"

"Do you think Gabriel will come or not?"

"He will come. Maybe not together with her but he will come and visit us." Jillyanna confidently answered. "I gave my opinion first so you should be taking the opposite."

"Alright. I'll take the choice of Gabriel, not coming to visit us."

"What's the prize?" Jillyanna eagerly asked with anticipation. "It would be great if we can go out."

Travis sat on the chair beside her and handed the spoon and fork to her. "How about checking a pet store?"

"Really?" Jillyanna's eyes widened in surprise. "You will bring me to a pet shop? Are we buying a pet?"

"I'm thinking of buying a dog but I want it to be your choice." Travis responded happily. "That is if you win the bet. If you lose, I will postpone this idea."

Jillyanna smirked and stood up from her chair. "I'm taking your phone. You might call him secretly and make me lose."

Travis chuckled at her statement. In truth, no matter what the result is, he would take her out and buy a pet for her. Buying a pet was also just an excuse. He was actually going to check for koi fishes and inquire about making a koi fish pond. He wanted to see her smile again.

Jillyanna placed both their phone on the bedside table, sat back on her chair and began eating. She didn't have any idea what's in store for her.

They talked about different kinds of animals that they can possibly pet and the maximum number they can take home. She didn't want anyone to have a hard time with so many pets at home.

After breakfast, Dr. Alison came to check on her. She looked sad at the same time hopeful making Jillyanna wonder with what was going on with her doctor.
