Chasing After My Wife

RILEY'S SORRY

RILEY'S SORRY

After the conference, Riley went home to take a rest and to apologize to her boyfriend as well.

"Don't forget your schedule tomorrow afternoon. You'll have a photoshoot with MAGZ." Wynwyn reminded her after dropping her off at the entrance of Jillyanna's house.

"Thank you. I'll make sure to be on time." Riley waved her hand as she watched Wynwyn drove her car and left the place.

When she turned around to get inside, she saw Jenny coming out of the house with several groceries.

"Hi Jenny! Are you sending these to the elders in that small house?" Riley asked the younger woman who was bringing three plastic bags of groceries.

"Hn. They ran out of groceries so I bought some for them. I don't have class today which is fine." Jenny answered. "Congratulations on your first movie."

"Thank you. Have you seen Shein inside?"

"Nope."

"Alright. I'll see you later." Riley clutched on to her clothes and walked inside the house. It was awfully quiet since Jillyanna had been staying in the hospital. Valkyrie and Brown was on a mission, too. Even so, the house was warm.

"Good afternoon Riley. Do you want something to eat?" Auntie Fei who saw her walking upstairs greeted her.

"I'm fine Auntie Fei. I'll look for food if ever I get hungry." Riley answered with a smile to the older lady.

Auntie Fei didn't insist and just left her alone to clean the living room instead.

As for Riley, she went directly to Shein's room without even bothering to change her clothes. She needed to apologize as soon as possible.

"Shein?" she called his name while knocking on the door to his room but no one answered her. "Shein, can you open the door?"

'Is he upset? He isn't willing to see me?' Riley's mind were full of negative thoughts and she started to feel sad. 'I didn't really mean to hurt him.'

She pulled out her phone and went to her room to change her clothes while waiting for someone to pick up her call.

The phone rang thrice before a lazy voice greeted her. "What's the matter?"

"Where are you?" Riley asked while pulling the dress down to her foot.

"I'm in Venus Plaza."

"Don't go anywhere else, okay? I'll come and get you." Riley spoke and ended the call before Shein can say anything else. She knew he was still upset base on his tone. And it was her fault.

She took a half bath and tied her hair in a ponytail. She chose a dark blue jeans and a baby pink sweat shirt. She didn't want to standout in a crowd, so she put on her beige long coat to keep herself warm. She got a dark shades and a white baseball hat to disguise herself.

She put on her chelsea boots and ran out of her room with just her purse and phone. She called a taxi to take her to the plaza and drop her off at the Venus Plaza HQ.

"Good afternoon ma'am. May we know who you are looking for?" the male receptionist asked Riley with a smile.

"I'm looking for Shein. Is he still here?" Riley couldn't expose her identity so she patiently went through this procedure.

"Let me check if he's still upstairs. Do you have appointment with him?" he asked once again at the same time, he was dialing the number on the top floor's reception.

"I don't have appointment with him but please tell him that Riri is here." Riley informed using her nick name.

Not long after, Riley was guided to the special VIP lounge so that she can wait for Shein who promised to come down and meet her.

She was served with refreshments and there were magazines on the table that she can read as well.

"Why are you here?" Shein asked when he got inside the special VIP lounge. He locked the door behind him and Riley heard the lock clicked, too.

She put down the business magazine that she was reading and turned back to look at him. "I'm sorry."

"Sorry? What for?"

"I'm sorry I bit you earlier. I found out that there was really no markings on my back." she guiltily apologized while looking down on her hands.

"I was deeply hurt when you doubted me." Shein spoke as he walked to sit beside her. "I know it was a very important event for you. I know the media will latch on you if they see any hickeys on your back. I'm not dumb you see."

"I'm really sorry." Riley cried in front of him without caring about her image. In any case, it was only the two of them inside the lounge. "I'm really sorry. I was just too anxious earlier when you said you did. At the same time, you always leave markings on me so how would I know if you really did it or not?"

Shein handed her a tissue but Riley didn't take it at all. She wiped her face with the back of her hand. "It's fine if you won't forgive me. I just really want to say sorry."

Shein looked at her but he didn't say anything. It was really painful for him that Riley doubted him for the first time in so many years.

"I've said what I want. Thanks for listening." Riley stood up and walked out of the room. Shein didn't know what to do. He wasn't ready to forgive her yet but he didn't want to let her go.

"We're not breaking up, right?" Shein asked before Riley could close the door.

Riley smiled at him before putting on her shades. "It's up to you. I know I'm at fault this time so you can decide it." She closed the door and left him alone inside the lounge. She walked slowly thinking that he would come and chase after her but there was no Shein even when she got inside a cab.

' I already apologized this time but he didn't forgive me. Was I too far to bite him? Or was it because I doubted him?' Riley thought to herself while looking at her own faint reflection on the windshield.
