Chasing After My Wife

HER GIFT

HER GIFT

Hawk focused himself in driving while Savannah looked outside the window. They were the poor souls that weren't spared with this lovey-dovey couple.

They were so sweet that Savannah was afraid they would be drowned from an onslaught of the ants.

Not long after, they all came home and Jillyanna went to find Winter immediately. She was going to tell her about her plans.

Checking in her room, she found her missing again so she went to Gabriel's room instead.

'Knock! Knock! Knock!'

"Come in." came Gabriel's voice in response to her knocking.

Jillyanna opened the door and found Winter sitting in front of Gabriel. "Did I disturb you two?"

"Not at all." Gabriel waved his hand in front of him. "We were just practicing how to read lips movements so that Winter can understand what others are talking about."

"Oh! That's great. That would be very helpful. I don't have to worry about her then."

"What do you mean?" Gabriel asked Jillyanna while Winter just looked at them with her confused face and blinking eyes.

Jillyanna sat on the bed space beside Winter and typed something on her phone while she spoke. "I'm going back home tomorrow due to some personal matter. I was thinking of bringing Winter with so that she'll have someone to accompany her."

She looked at Winter and showed the words she typed to her. Winter looked at Jillyanna before looking at the phone and shifted her gaze to Gabriel.

"I am fine here. Beside, Travis wouldn't want you to be stressed given that you are pregnant and your heart is fragile. In any case, Gabriel is helping me so I don't mind staying here." Winter stated with a smile. "Take care of yourself and my nephew, okay? Don't think about the negative things."

Jillyanna was also relieved to see her friend doing fine so she just nodded her head. "In that case, I'm leaving her to your care Gabriel. This is your best chance to get back with her. Grab this opportunity and don't let it go."

Even though Jillyanna was younger than them, she was always sensible when it comes to this matter. She always practical and realistic, too.

After talking for a few more minutes, Jillyanna went back to their room and found Travis sitting on the couch with a magazine in his hand.

"Were you able to talk to her?" Travis asked as he put down the magazine under the coffee table.

"Yes. Winter is currently learning how to read lips with Gabriel and she wanted to stay here which was good. In that way, they'd have more time together."

"Right...so...what did you want to give me?" He didn't forget to remind her at all.

Jillyanna opened the wardrobe and looked for a box that she placed on the lower cabinet together with the belts.

"This is for you." Jillyanna handed him a blue-gift-wrapped box which was quite light despite its big size.

"Thanks." Travis kissed her forehead and opened the box to see what was inside it. What he uncovered was actually a knitted sweater and a knitted turtleneck jacket. "Wow! It's soft and warm. Where did you buy this?"

Travis checked the turtleneck jacket and he even tried it out in front of her. It fits really well and the color really matches his temperament.

"You like it?" Jillyanna asked him while looking at him check the things she gave him.

"I love it. Thanks Jill. I will always treasure the things you give me."

"I'm glad it turned out good and you like it."

"So you really made this for me? Those crochet materials I found in your small room at home, it was really yours?" Travis inquired and his cheerful and surprised voice made Jillyanna smile proudly to herself.

"My father taught me how to do crochet. And when you were hospitalized, I was able to finish these items. I was even worried that you'd never wake up and I wouldn't get the chance to give this to you."

Travis walked towards her and gave her a warm hug. "I'm glad I woke up and received this from you. Thank you so much."

"You're welcome." Jillyanna hugged him back and leaned the side of her face on his chest. 'If only I can do this with you forever.' Jillyanna thought to herself without letting Travis know what was really going on in her mind.

Even though she wanted to survive, she couldn't erase the fact that her heart was failing her every single day that passed. She could the painful prick in her chest but she would always endure it.

If she would tell him, Travis would worry and she didn't want that. Four months to go and she can finally gave birth. That's all she needed. She just need to endure for another four months before getting an operation. And the operation would be a 50-50 chance of survival. She didn't want to build so much hope for him and shatter it herself when the time finally comes.

"Why are you being quiet? It's scaring me." Travis mumbled softly as he leaned his head on her shoulder. He hugged her even tighter and caressed her back. "Don't think about anything. Just make sure to take a rest and eat healthy food always. I will take care of any problem for you."

Jillyanna nodded her head in silence. After a few minutes, she pushed him a little and break off from his hug. "It's almost Christmas. Can you allow me to go shopping for the kids at the orphanage instead? I will have to buy things for our house, too."

"Let's do that next week." Travis promised. "I know you'll get bored doing nothing so I'll think of some things that you can do without stressing yourself a lot."

"But you will be working in the office while I'm at home, right?"

"Yes. I'll be at the office but I will come home during lunch to eat with you."

"Really?" Jillyanna asked happily knowing that she'd be able to eat three meals a day with him.

Nothing can compare to the happiness of sharing your food with the person you love.
