Help...My Wife is a Spy

Family Or Foe

Family Or Foe

Jackson carried Halia straight into the bedroom and lay her gently on the bed.

But, before the woman could say a word, he pressed his lips firmly against hers, preventing her from making a sound. He had been dreaming about these lips for an entire month and he wasn't moving away from it any time soon. After all, they were even more soft and supple than he remembered.

Halia's lips curved upwards slightly as her heart filled with an indescribable joy.

She hooked arms around the man's neck and pulled him closer, savoring every touch. She then flipped him over on the bed and pressed her body against his.

Jackson was pleased with the woman's initiative as he gently slipped his tongue into her mouth. He then ran his hands down her fit slender body.

The taste of her tongue was completely intoxicating and her body was irresistible; it made him want more, but he knew he had to reveal his real self to her first.

Slowly, he flipped the woman back over and moved away with a satisfied smile.

"Where's your bracelet?" he asked.

Halia quickly caught her breath and glanced at the wardrobe. "It's in the safe."

Jackson smiled happily. Even though she wasn't wearing it, at least she valued it enough to put it in the safe.

"Tell me the password, I'll go get it for you," he said.

"0321," Halia replied.

Jackson laughed. That was the date of their anniversary. How could this woman ask to break up earlier when she still cared so much about him?

Jackson walked over to the wardrobe, opened the safe and pulled out the bracelet. He had spent an entire night making this bracelet by hand.

He then returned to Halia's side and placed the bracelet on her wrist.

"Don't take this off again," he said dotingly.

Halia glanced down at the bracelet and nodded her head.

After a moment of silence, she decided it was time to ask what she wanted to know.

"Did you already know that I was an SPU agent when you gave me this bracelet? Was that why you chose to use Morse code on it?" Halia asked.

Jackson nodded his head, "I knew you'd eventually get my message."

"So, you deliberately gave me the wrong time for the bomb deal and snuck out to meet Remy Durand on your own?" Halia confirmed.

"He was an international fugitive that had committed multiple crimes in France. I had actually been following him for a long time, so I was deep undercover and couldn't risk revealing myself to you. I knew you wanted to prevent me from going, but I assumed everything would be over as soon as I caught Remy. I didn't expect to be taken back to France for an entire month. Nor did I expect all the drama that happened there."

At that moment, Halia placed her hand up to Jackson's chest, "Amelie told me about the bullet wound. What exactly happened?"

Jackson sat down and started telling Halia everything that happened from the start, including his mission, when he discovered her identity, what happened at the farmhouse and how he met Gogh and almost died.

Meanwhile, Halia sat quietly as she listened intently like a child hearing a bedtime story for the first time.

"So, you're suspecting someone from your family did it?" Halia asked.

"But, why?"

Jackson frowned and walked over to the window.

"You probably don't know this, but the casino actually belonged to my mother. She was an only child and when my grandparents passed away, she was given 50% ownership of the casino. Because she loved my father so much, she ended up giving him 20% of the casino's shares and making him the chairman. After all, she was never interested in the casino anyway. Unfortunately, during the time that she was pregnant with me, she discovered that my father was having an affair. So, as soon as I was born, she took me to live in Shanghai with her. I only visited every so often. While my mother was in Shanghai with me, he ended up having Emerson with his mistress. He then found a second mistress and had my sister. After my mother died, she gave all her shares to me. Based on that fact alone, everyone in the family is a potential suspect. I'm sure Emerson's family wants him to remain as the CEO and they don't want me to complicate things. But, I'm sure Jaclyn and Auntie Lily would get a cut of my shares if I was to die. Greed can do a lot to people," Jackson sighed.

Halia looked at Jackson in disbelief. How could his own family be so ruthless?

After a short pause, she asked with slight suspicion, "If you don't mind me asking, how did your mother die?"

"A hit and run, they never caught the culprit," Jackson explained, with slight doubt in his voice. "To be honest, I think the case was rigged. It was the thing that triggered me to become a policeman."

Halia stared into Jackson's eyes with hesitation. If someone tried to kill Jackson, did that same person kill his mother?

Jackson saw the discomfort in Halia's eyes, "I know what you're thinking. That's another reason why I'm back. I'm not just looking for the person that tried to kill me, I'm also looking for my mother's killer! I have a feeling they are the same person."
