I Hunt and Purge Reincarnators

Chapter 66: True Colors

Chapter 66: True Colors

"What do you want Aela..."

Standing behind the door in front of Lydia was none other than Aela the Huntress of the companions. She stood there wearing her usual fur and steel armor with that greatly showed off her figure. She looked at Lydia and crossed her arms before responding.

"So it's true, you've finally been appointed a Thane. Congratulations."

Lydia still didn't invite her in and ignored her congratulations.

"Mhm, sure. Now is there some business you have here?"

Aela sighed before nodding.

"Fine. I'm here to see your Thane, there's something I wish to discuss."

Lydia reluctantly allowed Aela to enter but gave her an unamused stare. Aela walked towards the table where Kel and Lokir sat and gave her greetings.

"I hope I'm not interrupting but there's something I wish to speak to you about Kel...The Dragon Slayer. Will you hear me out?"

Kel was curious enough so he nodded his head and gestured her to take a seat.

"Take a seat, I'm all ears."

Lydia walked over to Kel's side and crossed her arms as if guarding him. Lokir simply lowered his head and returned to reading his scripts.

"About the incident that occurred when you came to Jorrvaskr, understand that Nords are a prideful bunch and they tend to put traditions above all else. So I hope you don't hold it against them, that said enough people vouched for your strength and skill, so despite a few still against it, we're willing to let you join at a rank befitting your skill, what say you?"

Lydia looked to her Thane with a look of absolute disagreement, Kel didn't need to waste time pondering as he gave his answer immediately.

"Not interested. I'm confident in accomplishing more on my own but most importantly, I prefer being free to do as I please. Be it raiding dungeons or hunting my prey, such is best enjoyed when you don't have shackles limiting you. In my long journey to achieve my goal, Skyrim isn't even a stepping stone. That is the simple fact."

Aela couldn't help but feel insulted and slammed the table, causing Lokir's scripts to scatter.

"Although I admit you are skilled, don't go too far. One achievement isn't enough in the eyes of any real Nord. Your words are nothing but shameless boasting!"

Kel seemed amused by her getting angry and crossed his arms as he looked up at her.

"Since you claim it's shameless then I how about a challenge. Come the end of winter, whoever has achieved more wins. Ask what we're betting..."

"Our lives. The loser will lose their freedom. If I really am boasting then you shouldn't have a problem proving me wrong. But if deep down you know I'm right..."

"Then sit on the sidelines with the rest of Skyrim and watch as I rise to the very top effortlessly. No matter your choice It'll all end the same way, with you naked on my lap feeding me grapes with a smile on your face."

Stunned. Aela along with the others grew stunned. So far, they had known Kel to be quiet and somewhat humble in how he carried himself, so him basically saying calling the entirety of Skyrim less than a stepping stone for him came as a bit of a shock.

Aela stood up enraged as she stared at Kel, Lydia however unsheathed her sword and pointed it towards her. Lokir just shifted his gaze from either side while slowly eating his sweet roll.

Aela kicked the chair and stormed off towards the exit but stopped right at the door.

"I had considered you a man of honor, you've shown I was greatly mistaken. I accept your challenge, and when I win, your title shall change to something even worser than Yorgen TrollFucker himself. Mark my words."

*bam!*

And with those parting words, Aela stormed out of Kel's home. Kel simply smiled and stood before turning to Lydia who gave him a puzzled look.

"Although I do love to see Aela get told off, didn't you go a bit too far? She's extremely skilled."

Kel slowly got closer to Lydia before looking her straight in the eyes and speaking.

"Do these look like the eyes of someone who's joking, do you doubt your Thane Lydia? If so you're free to join the challenge."

Lydia found herself unable to stare into Kel's eyes as she quickly averted her gaze and answered.

"No my Thane...it just my duty to worry for you. I am sworn to carry your burdens, whatever they may be".

Kel smiled and turned away from Lydia before heading towards the exit leaving her only a few parting words.

"Shame, I would've loved having another beautiful

warrior on my lap."
