The Wizard called Oz - HP

Spell Creation

Spell Creation

Oz's schedule again took another change after discovering the sheer amount of books the restricted section had to offer. He would now read books within the RoR while sometimes spending time balancing out his core and growing it towards the next level. Such a process was something that needed to be taken slowly and calmly. On the weekends, he'd still visit the old snake for some dark arts lessons.

After his run in with Cho however his time after lessons changed with her approaching him with questions that he was happy to answer. She slowly warmed up to him throughout all of this, seeing that he was a kind person that was just misunderstood due to his placement of house and outburst at the beginning of the year.

On a certain day however, the first years were learning defence against the dark arts and were practicing casting spells in pairs. Oz was told to pair with a familiar face.

'Its Craig from the beginning of the year... I wonder if he still remembers me'.

Oz sat down next to Craig, the latter of whom was wary at his presence. He had a slight scowl on his face, probably due to the fact Oz is a Slytherin and he a Gryffindor. Oz felt the need to break the ice.

"So you're my partner then? Last time we spoke was on the boat I believe... I had you pinned for a Hufflepuff but your turned out to be a Gryffindor! funny how fate works sometimes...".

Craig wore a confused countenance. Whenever a Slytherin talked usually, they'd spit venomous comments especially when one was in Gryffindor, their rival house. Oz however didn't seem to care about such things, just wanting to make small talk.

"Y-yeah it has been a while hasn't it... Oz. I thought you'd be in Ravenclaw with the knowledge you had but it seems you ended up in Slytherin instead, it must have been rough".

Oz smirked at Craig's response.

"Well its not all bad, not all Slytherins are terrible and honestly even though at first I was shocked I've grown to accept it and like it. Anyway lets start the tasks we were given".

For the rest of the lesson then, Oz and Craig practiced spells with Oz sometimes guiding Craig one what he needed to fix whenever he would struggle. As the lesson came to a close Craig's face was filled with glee but also a tinge of guilt.

As they were leaving the class however Craig pulled Oz to one side.

"I-I...I'm sorry Oz, even after helping me at the beginning of the year on the train I've been avoiding you all this time just because you were in Slytherin. I even helped spread those rumours about you at times... I hope you can forgive me".

Oz looked deeply at the boy who was asking for forgiveness.

'I can't exactly hate him for what's happened. It's a totally understandable response to such a situation seeing as the rivalry between Slytherin and Gryffindor is so stark. He was probably influenced by some not to talk to me as I'm in Slytherin as well'.

"Its fine Craig, to be honest the rumours and such never bothered me".

Craig wore a smile of relief at Oz's answer.

"Thank you Oz, after todays lessons I realised how foolish ive been in judging you... from now on if you want to have a chat call on your ol' pal Craig!"

Craig gave a toothy grin to Oz as he walked off towards his next lesson. Oz stood still for a while in the same spot, his emotions welling up. Even though Oz acts mature and usually has a calm outlook on life, anyone who has been ostracized and been alone for so long would start eventually feeling a bit depressed. Craig and Cho approaching him in the past few days made him feel like he was being accepted into this world more and more each day, rather than being just a background character that was put here.

Such a thing made him feel truly happy.

.

Oz as of right now was in the RoR however it was one of those rare times he wasn't reading, instead he was working on his augment spell.

'The augment spell in theory should work... I guess all thats left is just to test it'.

Way back when Oz was at the Lovegood's, Xenophilius accidently slipped Pandora's spell creation book within the pouch he handed to him. Oz was remiss to attempt using any of the spells within as any could blow him up however, the most important thing about these notes to Oz was understanding how spells were formed from a professional standpoint. With the notes, Oz was able to make strides in creating his own spells, this however would be the first spell he'd actually test out in practice rather than just theorizing on.

'On paper this should all work but the risk will be great. Pumping magic around my body to my muscles and nerves could easily go wrong even with the slightest misstep'.

Oz stood still in the middle of the RoR. Taking a deep breath he prepares himself to try out his augment spell that took so long to realize.

'Okay, let's begin!' "Augmentum!"

With the spell casted onto himself, magic from Oz's core started to travel to his muscles and nerves, attempting to strengthen them so his strength and reflexes were enhanced. As the magic reached his muscles he felt them bulge a bit and when it reached his nerves he felt them tighten. A slight pain was produced from such a connection. This kind of spell would utilise the users core in order to augment the body as a whole, the magic casted to cause this augmentation acted as a guide to the magic coming from the core telling it where it needed to be. Such a difficult process however was tedious and painful to go through.

'Well this spell certainly isnt forgiving is it...'.

Oz's face strained at the pain he was feeling, his teeth grinding together. After a few minutes of careful control and intermittent pain he felt like the spell was nearing completion in its application, all he needed to do now was test it.

'Now I'm at this stage I need to activate the training program'.

Oz then pushed the button in the centre of the RoR, causing the mannequins left and right of him to attack. The second he sensed danger, he felt everything around him slow down.

'Woah... is this due to my reflexes being augmented? I can get such a good grasp on the situation around me!'.

Oz span around casting an array of spells from both his wands, disarming and destroying each mannequin he casted at. The final mannequin standing after his initial spell onslaught, Oz ran up to and punched in the gut.

This punch sent the mannequin flying into the wall of the RoR, causing it to explode into a million different pieces.

'Amazing! this spell works like a charm! knowing the human anatomy really helped me realise what muscle groups were important to augment. Augmenting my nervous system as well gave such a surprising result as well!'.

Oz released the augment spell feeling a slight fatigue on his body. He grinned as walked over to the door grabbing his trusty clock that told him how long he'd been training for. Seeing he had plenty of time, he decided to reward himself, heading off to turn in early for a longer rest.

'All thats left now is to breakthrough before the end of the year and that should be doable with one last push. Sadly I couldn't get the marauders map this year, but such a thing is only a side task...'.

With the year soon coming to a close, Oz was edging closer and closer to the start of the true 'Harry Potter canon'. The golden trio would soon appear at the school and Voldemort would then start making moves...
