The Legend of the Kyubi

Interlude 3: Asuma's Death (1)

Interlude 3: Asuma's Death (1)

POV Kurama

After I left Kurenai, I decided to walk straight home because I still had to go out with Kushi-chan at that new clothing store.

"Foxy-kun~!" - I was surprised when I heard a voice I hadn't heard in days - "Anko-chan"

"I expected a more lively reception..." - Anko murmured as she shook his head. "Anyway, it's been a long time since we've seen each other."

"Right" - I nodded happily. It was good to see one of the most important people in my life again - "Now that I see you, I still have to tell you about the results of the new torture methods we were talking about"

"Did you put them to the test?" - Anko asked curiously as she walked beside me.

"I'll tell you how it all happened as we walked home" - I said as I smiled at her. Anko gave it back to me as I told her everything that had happened in the mission to Nami no Kuni.

"I have to admit it was an interesting mission" - Anko muttered as she nodded - "But what are you doing in this area so late?"

"I was talking with Kurenai-san" - I answered calmly.

"San?" - I could see the surprise in Anko's voice, so I told her what had happened - "I knew that idiot Asuma wasn't a good person..."

"Why do you say that?" - I asked curiously.

"Because I could feel those looks he was giving me" - snorted the beautiful purple-haired woman - "It's not the first time I've received them, not to mention that events in my past made them easier to detect"

"Do you think he'll do something stupid?" - I asked seriously.

"It's not the first time I've seen this kind of pattern, so I can assure you that he's planning something bad" - Anko answered with a cold look.

". . ." - I just kept quiet while different scenarios ran through my mind - "I think we'd better set up some things in case you're right. . ."

I was getting a bad feeling and Anko's words made it worse.

"I'm going to prepare the 'guest room'" - smiled Anko as she looked at me - "Maybe I can ask Ibiki to provide me with some 'volunteers'..."

* * * [General POV] * * *

After receiving the news that his son was safe at the Sarutobi Residence, Hiruzen was finally able to calm down. He was afraid that Asuma would do something stupid but with the constant surveillance of his Anbus, it was obvious that that would not happen... but for his bad luck... that would not happen.

"Hiruzen-sama!" - exclaimed Anbu Neko as she appeared in front of the Hokage. That was one of the advantages of being an Anbu, they did not have to ask permission to enter because it would only delay their reports.

"What is it, Neko?" - the Sandaime asked with concern.

"We have some bad news!" - shouted Neko angrily - "All the Anbu who were guarding Asuma Sarutobi were killed!"

"What?!" - exclaimed Hiruzen - "What happened to my son?!"

"He has disappeared" - Neko answered seriously - "All the Anbus were killed in the same way, by surprise and with a weapon we identified as Chakra Blades..."

"No!" - Hiruzen could only get up suddenly when he heard the report - "It's impossible that my son is responsible for killing those Anbus!"

"I'm sorry, sir, but the evidence is overwhelming" - Neko replied with a stoic tone - "We managed to find one Anbu alive, but after giving the information, he died from bleeding to death"

Hiruzen could not, no, it was better to say that he did not want to believe what he was hearing, but all the evidence pointed to his son is responsible for the loss of his Anbus' lives.

"I want you to find Asuma Sarutobi and capture him before he does anything that could destroy the village" - said the Sandaime seriously - "If possible, I would like you to cover the perimeter around Jonin sensei Kurenai's house.

". . ." - Neko was only silent but Hiruzen could feel the coldness in the woman's eyes. He knew that even though she had grown apart over the years, Neko, or rather Yugao, was still friends with the red-eyed kunoichi.

"You can use any method to neutralize Asuma but you cannot kill him" - Hiruzen said seriously. He had already broken off relations with the Uzumaki clan for the safety of his son, so he was not afraid to create more dissatisfaction among his forces.

"As you command, Hiruzen-sama" - said Neko neutrally as she disappeared to give the orders to the others.

Hiruzen only sighed with regret as he rose from his desk. Slowly he walked to the window and looked out at the large village he 'controlled' - "What did I do wrong?"

* * * * *

"Shit!" - shouted Asuma furiously as he saw a large amount of Anbus wandering around. He had been running away since he murdered his watchers.

The action was not difficult, he only had to tell them that he wanted to talk to pass the time and attack them quickly, which was the easiest thing of all. Not for nothing, he took the position as protector of the Fire Daimyo.

He was about to jump to attack another Anbu but stopped when he heard a voice from the shadows - "Asuma Sarutobi-san... Danzo-sama wants to talk to you..."

". . ." - Asuma stared at the Root Anbu who came out of the shadows with cold, calculating eyes as he frowned. He knew that Danzo was one of his father's greatest enemies but he didn't have time to make another decision, so he followed him without even thinking twice. If he went out to fight those Konoha Anbus, he would only make it easier for others to find and capture him.

* * * * *

"Any sign of Asuma Sarutobi?" - Neko asked as she looked at her companions.

"Nothing" - Karasu coldly denied. While Asuma was the son of the Hokage, that did not give him the right to kill his fellow villagers. The actions of the smoking Jonin were already considered an act of treason and more than enough reason to be marked in the Bingo book and sent to the Blood Prison.

Neko only kept silent as she looked around but her companions gave her the same answer - "Hiruzen-sama will not be happy with this answer..."

"The only thing we can do now is to watch the surroundings of Jonin Sensei Kurenai's house" - said Karasu seriously - "It is quite obvious that she will be his main target"

"Normally I would say that we should also keep an eye on the Uzumaki but I am sure that both Kurama and Kushina Uzumaki are more than capable of capturing Asuma Sarutobi" - continued the Anbu in the crow's mask.

"It's the best plan of action we have" - sighed Anbu Tora - "We cannot be running around Konoha without any leads... because we would only be causing panic among the inhabitants.

"I agree with Tora" - said Anbu Saru - "By the way, we found traces in the vicinity and we can say that they are from the target... the problem is that the target has made contact with a third party..."

"That sounds like something Danzo would do... that son of a bitch must be helping the target escape" - Anbu Kuma mumbled coldly and this wasn't just a thought of him because the others thought the same thing too.

"We better go inform Hiruzen-sama" - Neko said as she disappeared with her companions.

* * * * *

"Danzo... Shimura..." - said Asuma when he saw the man in front of him.

"Asuma Sarutobi..." - replied the old war hawk - "I see that life has not treated you well"

"If you have only called me to mock me, then I will leave" - said Asuma coldly.

"I was just coming to offer you a deal" - Danzo smiled as he glanced at the Jonin - "I can help you accomplish that which you desire. Kurenai Yuhi will be yours if you accept my help"

". . ." - Asuma was silent for a few seconds and then nodded - "What do you ask in return?"

"That you help me take control of Konoha" - answered Danzo with a half-smile as he took out a bottle with a strange liquid - "I just need that when all this is over, you make Hiruzen drink this"

". . ." - Asuma again was silent as he thought - "Tell me. . . is that poison?"

"No. . ." - denied the old war hawk - "It's just a chakra suppressor . . . the function is to slowly deteriorate the affected person's Tenketsu until they end up being as weak as an ordinary civilian's"

"Will you kill him?" - asked Asuma with a seriousness that could be seen on his face.

"We may not have the best relationship and I may be trying to take control of Konoha but I still respect Hiruzen enough to at least let him live to see the Village walk to a new horizon" - answered Danzo with a half-smile. At first, he had planned to kill him and end everything but after analyzing things a little more, he decided that it was a better idea to keep him alive so that he could see that he was always wrong. Just thinking about the expression Hiruzen would make when the time came made the old war hawk smile.

"I accept..." - Asuma nodded as he shook the old shinobi's hand.

* * * * *

"You say Danzo's in the middle of all this?" - Hiruzen asked with a scowl.

"We have no proof but it is quite likely" - Karasu replied.

". . ." - Hiruzen started to think as the concern grew. He only prayed that Asuma would not accept the 'help' of his old friend because it would only end up being one more piece in his plans.

"Keep looking" - ordered old Sandaime - "I want to see Asuma in front of me as soon as possible"

"Hai..." - replied the Anbus as they withdrew.

* * * * *

It was already night and the Anbus were still on their endless quest to find Asuma but still without results. They were now protecting the area around Kurenai's house.

"Neko! Asuma has been sighted in the eastern part of Konoha!" - exclaimed Anbu Uma - "According to the information, he is preparing to meet with some spies from the new village, Oto no Kuni, so that he can escape from Konoha!

"!" - The Anbus were surprised when they heard this and left immediately, leaving Anbu Uma alone - "Phase one completed... entering phase two..."

* * * * *

When they arrived, the Anbus were surprised that it was Asuma who was with some strange shinobis with a forehead guard with the symbol of a musical note.

"Asuma Sarutobi, you are under arrest" - said Anbu Tora while Karasu and Neko were seriously observing everything. They felt that there was something strange about this whole situation.

"I'm sorry but I can't afford to get caught" - said Asuma as he nodded to the Otonins and ran off. When they received the signal, they ran in the opposite direction.

"I'll get Asuma, you get the spies" - said Neko as she ran after the smoking Jonin Sensei.

". . ." - Karasu still had that feeling of discomfort inside him but still followed Neko's orders, not realizing that there was another Otonin in the vicinity - "Phase two complete... now it's up to Asuma..."

* * * * *

When Asuma got the green light and he walked over to Kurenai's residence - "I'm going to enjoy this..."

He slowly opened the door of the house as he took a small bottle out of his pocket and opened it. A strange aroma invaded the dwelling but quickly disappeared as if it had never been there.

"Now..." - murmured the Jonin as he pulled out another bottle with a different liquid - "If what Danzo said is true, I must now drink this liquid to counteract the effects of the first bottle..."

Without thinking twice, he drank the liquid and felt how the discomfort he had felt before was disappearing without a trace. He quickly walked to the woman's room and saw how she had a big smile on her face. This infuriated him but he calmed down easily because he knew he would soon have her moaning his name.

The situation continued as planned, he subdued her with great ease because she could not mold her chakra well but when he was about to finally fulfill his deepest wish, a cold voice was heard behind him, then only darkness, one that he sincerely wished would continue for all eternity.

* * * [15 minutes earlier] * * *

Kurama had left a Clone transformed into a cat in front of Kurenai's house to prevent anything from happening and now he was grateful that he had done so because he had received the information he needed.

With great speed, he ran to Kurenai's house and without a second thought continued his journey to her room, only to see Asuma about to **** her.

Kurama was furious... extremely furious so he did his best to resist the urge to kill the male Jonin, after all, he did not deserve a quick death, but a slow and painful one.

After seeing that Asuma was unconscious, he created a Clone to take him to Anko while he comforted Kurenai. The beautiful red-eyed woman fell asleep after a few minutes, and this was to be expected; after all, she had been through a situation that had left her mentally exhausted.

He quickly took her to the Uzumaki residence and left her with Kushina while he explained the situation.

The matriarch Uzumaki was furious to hear how her former student was about to be raped. She wanted to go with Kurama so that she could 'chat' with Asuma, but after the red-haired young man told her to stay home so she could keep an eye on Kurenai, she calmed down. Kushina knew that Kurenai was likely to wake up in the night because the images of past events would repeat themselves over and over again.
