The Legend of the Kyubi

Cap 159: Aftermath

Cap 159: Aftermath

.."You didn't expect this ending... did you?" - Kurama asked as he looked at the haggard old war hawk. He had been tortured for three hours by Sasuke until he was finally able to calm down - "Speechless?"

"Fuck you..." - Danzo muttered in a voice that brought a combination of pain and exhaustion. He had no chakra, his Tenketsu was destroyed and his body was completely bruised, his entire appearance showing that he was barely alive.

"How lovely," the ginger man snorted as he looked out the gates of the village.

"Kurama-sama..." - said Izumo and Kotetsu with respect but their expressions changed when they saw the man on his shoulder as if he were a sack of potatoes - "You!"

"Calm down, Izumo," said Kotetsu as he took his friend.

"How can I calm down?! This is the bastard responsible for me losing not only my friends but also the woman I felt could take the next step!" - Izumo roared in fury as he looked with tears at the man responsible for the rebellion - "If it weren't for this bastard, she wouldn't have died!"

". . ." - Kotetsu was silent when he heard this because he could put himself in his friend's shoes. He and Izumo had been seeing the two girls they had met through the blessing of Sekkusu Kami-sama and to their sorrow, they were involved with the rebellion, though unlike Izumo, Kotetsu still had his girlfriend alive even though she was unconscious.

"I am sorry, boys... but I cannot let him be killed... not when he has to get his deserved justice..." - sighed the redheaded man as he watched Izumo continue to mourn the loss.

" No... I understand..." - said Izumo in pain as he returned to his post.

"I am sorry..." - Kurama muttered as he shook his head.

"No... you do not have to apologize, Kurama-sama..." - sighed Kotetsu as he went to his friend.

Kurama gave them one last look before walking back to Hokage Mansion, only to see the chaos and destruction Konoha had received. Fire, screams, cries, the beautiful village had lost all its luster.

"Is this what you wanted?" - Kurama asked coolly as Danzo kept silent - "Answer me!"

"No... I wanted to take Konoha to the top" - answered Danzo.

"Don't be a hypocrite! You didn't want to take Konoha to the top, you wanted to be on top!" - exclaimed Kurama furiously.

". . ." - Danzo didn't answer him, he just kept silent as the two of them continued to advance.

"Son! Where are you, son?!" - exclaimed one mother as she looked around.

"Darling!" - exclaimed another woman as she screamed in desperation.

Whole families screaming the names of the hundreds of missing people as they prayed with all their hearts to find those who were still missing.

"Look at all the pain you have caused," Kurama said coolly as he felt all the negative emotions surrounding this once picturesque village. Normally it would be easy for him to ignore all those emotions but now that the whole population was suffering, it was impossible to do so.

". . ." - Danzo remained silent as he looked around neutrally.

* * * * *

"Damage report..." - said Hiruzen as he watched his almost destroyed office.

"The damage in the village is over 50%... it will take us months, even years to rebuild the village..." - replied Shikaku, who was standing with his arm bandaged.

"The state of the shinobis and civilians..." - said the old Sandaime again.

". . ." - Shikaku was silent when he heard these words.

"I want the report... NOW!" roared Hiruzen.

"We have lost 45% of our shinobi forces and," Shikaku replied with regret.

"Continue..." - the Hokage said coolly.

"The civilian losses are from... over 65%..." - said Commander Jonin with sorrow.

". . ." - Hiruzen could only grit his teeth in fury as he released what little chakra he had left. He was feeling like the true traitor of the village because it was under his rule that the village suffered so much. He could have killed Danzo without caring about the consequences and none of this would have happened, he could have taken away power from the civilians and thus prevented Danzo from getting more power, he could have done many things, but none of that mattered now that the village was on the verge of destruction, and what made it worse was that it was possible for the other villages to take this opportunity to attack the weak Konoha and this would lead to a new World War Shinobi - "You are dismissed..."

"Hai..." - Shikaku muttered as he retreated.

"Anbus... withdraw..." - murmured the Sandaime, only to see how completely alone he was - ". . ."

"Old man..." - said Tsunade as she walked into the old man's office and saw how he was crying like a little boy. She had never seen her sensei so broken, even when he lost his eldest son and daughter-in-law.

"Tsunade... Am I a bad Hokage? Was Sensei wrong?" - Hiruzen asked as he looked at the newcomer. He could not hide the pain he was suffering, especially when he remembered all the expectations Tobirama had of him.

"No..." - Tsunade replied as he shook his head - "You may have made wrong choices, but you're human... we all make mistakes... not to mention that we only know those choices we make are wrong when we can already see the final result..."

"If it wasn't for your leadership, Konoha wouldn't have been what it was..." - continued the blonde Senju.

"But it was this same leadership that almost destroyed Konoha..." - Hiruzen replied with pain - "If it wasn't for my love for my friends and students that clouded my judgment, Danzo wouldn't have achieved so much power and Orochimaru would have been dead years ago... I guess age changed me more than I thought... if it had been me of my young years, then none of this would have happened"

". . ." - Tsunade didn't know how to answer this, but her expression changed when she noticed something on Hiruzen's face - "Old man?!"

"Yes. . ." - Hiruzen nodded with a weak, sad smile as he looked at his student - "This is the reminder of my mistakes..."

"I can cure you..." - responded Tsunade with concern.

"No..." - the Hokage refused - "The loss of my eye will be the reminder of all my mistakes, of all my guilt..."

Hiruzen slowly walked to the window that was now a big hole - "Maybe I should apologize to my people... by taking my life..."

"You can't do that! What about Biwako-san, Konohamaru, and all the villagers?!" - Tsunade exclaimed in surprise - "Do you want people to lose the last pillar they have left now that everything's in the shit?! Don't you understand the consequences of your death?!"

"I know... that's why I'm not going to do it..." - sighed Hiruzen as he shook his head - "Konoha still needs me... but..."

"No buts, you old fart!" - exclaimed Biwako as she entered the office - "Good thing I came to see how you were doing, you old monkey!"

"Biwako-chan..." - muttered Hiruzen.

"Don't give me your 'Biwako-chan', you damn fool!" - exclaimed the Hokage's wife - "What kind of shit were you talking about recently?!"

"I..." - said Hiruzen as he stared uncomfortably at his wife.

"No! Now you're going to let me do the talking, you old monkey!" - exclaimed Biwako angrily - "Tsunade-chan... I'd like you to come out for a moment, I have something important to talk to this old fool"

"Ok" - Tsunade nodded as he retired. She had seen this side of Biwako only twice, once when Jiraiya spied on them at the hot springs, and two when Hiruzen had been flirting with a shinobi from another village, that were not good results for the two men.

"W-Wait, Biwako-chan!" - Hiruzen exclaimed in terror because he didn't want to see his wife so upset.

"No, I won't wait, now it's your turn to get a good beating to get rid of those depressing thoughts you have!" - exclaimed the Hokage's wife as the sound of the beating was heard in the distance.

"That confirms that Biwako-san is the one with the pants in the relationship..." - Tsunade muttered as she shook her head. She slowly returned to the street, only to find that the houses and buildings around her were at ground level.

She could only sigh with regret at how the efforts of her grandfather and great-uncle had almost completely disappeared.

"One more reason to hate that son of a bitch," Tsunade muttered coldly. She didn't hate Konoha because despite having bad memories, she also had good memories - "I guess it's true that you don't know what you have until you lose it..."

"Tsunade-sama... we need your help at the hospital," Kakashi said wearily. On Shikaku's orders, he was assigned as the organizer and leader of all of Konoha's current operations.

"I will go immediately..."- replied the blonde, but her expression changed when she saw Kurama coming with a familiar man on his shoulder - "You!"

Everyone in the crowd looked in the direction of the blonde, only to feel their blood boil with fury.

"Danzo!" - Kakashi roared as his Sharingan activated itself. He could feel his hatred for the old war hawk feeding his Dojutsu.

". . ." - Danzo did not reply, he only looked up weakly.

Tsunade slowly approached the old war hawk with an emotionless look.

"Tsunade..." - Danzo muttered neutrally.

"You don't know how much I want to kill you right now..." - said Tsunade as she looked at the man in front of her - "Dan... Nawaki... everyone who died in this pointless rebellion... but... there's someone who needs to kill you more than I do..."
