The Legend of the Kyubi

Cap 242: Bird of ill omen

Cap 242: Bird of ill omen

"Okay, I'm going to ask how it is that no one noticed that we had a little stowaway among us" - said Kurama while looking at those present because at the moment, they arrived in Uzu, he managed to feel the familiar presence of little Hanabi.

". . ." - Hinata shrank her neck because she noticed how the redhead was looking at her carefully - " So?"

"W-Well... S-She convinced me during the night..." - Hinata murmured with a red face.

"I'm sorry to say this, but we have to get Hanabi-chan back," said Kurama seriously.

"No! I don't want to go back!" - exclaimed Hanabi as she clung to her older sister as if her life depended on it.

"I know this is not the best time to say this, but Hiashi-sama told me to give you this," said one Hyuga as he handed the redhead a letter.

Kurama quietly took it and started reading it, only to nod and glance at the young Hyuga - "I guess a father knows his children well".

"?" - Hanabi tilted her head in confusion because she did not understand the situation.

"Read this and you will understand" - answered Kurama calmly as he handed the letter to Hanabi who read it without a second thought.

"I'm not very good at this stuff so I'll get right to the point. I know my daughter well enough to know that she will not accept my decision and will try to escape with her sister to go to Uzushiogakure no Sato.

As a father, I am not very happy that my two little princesses have become attached to the same boy, I am honestly still not satisfied with the situation, but after thinking about it for a while I decided to accept their decisions despite how upsetting it is because I owe them so much.

I know that you will not hurt them and that you will not do anything strange with Hanabi because she is only a child, so I am not worried that you will try to exceed certain limits, so I will only tell you one thing... please I ask you to protect my two princesses... they are all that I have left of Hanako-chan, my deceased wife".

"Tousan..." - Hanabi muttered as she shook her head. Tears started streaming down her cheeks as her sister hugged her.

"Come, I will tell you where you will stay," said Kurama as he decided it was better to leave the two sisters alone for a moment.

"Is this an order, sir?" - asked Yugao who was wearing her Anbu mask.

"That's right," replied Kakashi calmly as he looked at the woman, "This mission is extremely delicate, and it will also serve as a break from all those missions you have had"

". . ." - Yugao was silent for a few seconds before nodding - "As you command, Kakashi-sama... When do I get out?"

"Immediately," answered Kakashi while smiling with his visible eye, "Kushina-sama will be waiting for you at Konoha's entrance when you have all your luggage ready"

". . . Ok . . ." - Yugao only shook her head and then nodded. It was obvious that she understood that Kushina and Kakashi were doing this so that she would take a little vacation, using as an excuse that she would go on a reconnaissance mission to Uzu - "If you'll excuse me, I'm going to get my things ready"

"I will not take up any more of your time," Kakashi nodded as he continued to do the annoying paperwork.

Yugao quickly left the office, only for Kakashi to stop working and look out the door with a serious expression on his face - "She has improved over the months... but she is still not in the right place...".

"I know, that's why I decided to give you this 'mission'" - answered Kushina as she appeared next to the current Hokage - "She took her first steps thanks to Tsunade but she hasn't moved from there"

"As a friend, I appreciate the improvement she has, but at the same time I worry that she is still locked in her shell despite the passage of time" - denied Kakashi while looking at the redheaded woman - "I thank you for the idea, Kushina-sama".

"You don't have to thank me, I'm doing it for my student," responded Kushina as she shook her head.

"Speaking of Tsunade-sama... you still don't tell me what happened" - said Kakashi seriously.

"I'll just say that everyone is fine, even the baby who was in the greatest danger" - responded Kushina calmly. She would not go into greater detail not because she did not trust Kakashi, but because the walls had ears, black and white ears.

"I understand, I am happy that everything went well" - nodded Kakashi before shaking his head as he remembered some information he sincerely did not want to remember. His hand unconsciously moved towards his Sharingan as a melancholy expression appeared on his face.

"Do you still feel powerless to believe that your best friend is responsible for all the chaos and destruction that occurred in Konoha? - Kushina asked her to notice the change in her ex-husband's student's expression.

"Yes... the Obito I know would never do something like that," said Kakashi as he sighed regretfully. "Although after hearing the message he sent me, I fully understand the situation"

"He sent you a message?!" - exclaimed Kushina in surprise - "Why didn't you tell me about it?!"

"Because it wasn't necessary... the letter was for me, and only for me" - replied Kakashi as he shook his head - "The letter reminded me of some things that were stored deep in my mind..."

"You were not to blame..." - said Kushina as she put her hand on the Hokage's shoulder - "If you didn't..."

". . ." - Kakashi just shook his head - "Still, it doesn't change the fact that I killed her with my own hands..."

Kushina did not say anything else because she knew it would not change Kakashi's mind.

"Have you adjusted to the Rinnegan enough?" - asked Zetsu as he looked closely at Obito.

"Not yet..." - Obito replied neutrally as he looked at his hands - "With my current level I am no match for Nagato, so we have to keep waiting for the right moment to end him for good"

"Right..." - Zetsu nodded as a grim smile appeared on his face - "Tell me... How is our new pawn doing? Has he finally learned Edo Tensei?

"Not in the least," answered Obito with disdain, "Now that he has lost the Reibi, much of its usefulness has disappeared"

"True, but one more pawn is an advantage for us," Zetsu nodded as he frowned.

"So, this is where you were..." - said Konan as she appeared in front of her two companions - "Nagato wants to talk to you about the upcoming capture of the Nibi"

"Okay, we'll go right away," Obito answered seriously, although inside he only snorted at Akatsuki's supposed leader with disdain, unaware that Zetsu was doing the same, although with the difference that Zetsu also looked at him with disdain.

"I hope that your stay in Uzushiogakure no Sato, will be the best, Yugao-chan" - smiled Kushina as she arrived home with the purple-haired Anbu.

"Thank you very much for your consideration, Kushina-sama" - answered Yugao while staring at the redhead - "But I would like to start with my mission, even though I know it is only a joke"

"Uh..." - Kushina didn't know how to react to this because she didn't expect Yugao to start working so quickly - "Are you sure about this? Don't you want to check the village first?"

"No, I'll go check the perimeter first" - answered Yugao while shaking her head - "I'll be back in a few hours"

"Oh, okay..." - Kushina nodded as she saw the purple-haired woman disappear from her sight - "Okay, this is not what I had planned..."

"Kushina-chan! Tsunade-san just sent us a message!" - exclaimed Mikoto as she walked towards the entrance.

"I'm coming right away!" - exclaimed Kushina as she ran inside the Uzumaki Residence.

"There... I've finished assigning the homes to our new inhabitants, now all that's left is to go home and..." - said Kurama calmly, only to be surprised to see Yugao in Uzushio - "Yugao-san?"

"Oh... Hello, Kurama-sama" - answered Yugao while giving a small bow.

"Please tell me you didn't come to tell me that Kakashi needs me," sighed Kurama as he took his hair.

". . ." - Yugao's eyebrow trembled slightly, although she honestly found the redhead's expression amusing - "No... I did not come to bother you with Kakashi-sama's business... I am in Uzushiogakure no Sato on a mission he entrusted to me"

"I see," nodded Kurama as he breathed a sigh of relief, only to burst out laughing at how he had overreacted - "Okay, I'm sorry about that"

"No, I understand how you feel" - answered Yugao with a small smile on her face - "You have to understand my situation as well, I mean, whenever I went to your home, it was to disturb you..."

"I know, I'm sorry about all that" - sighed Kurama as he looked at the woman with conflicting emotions - "I'm also sorry that I thought you were a bird of ill omen"

". . ." - Yugao's eyebrow shook again, but she said nothing to refute the redhead's words because honestly, she would think something similar if someone did what she did with the redhead.
