The Legend of the Kyubi

Epilogue: Immortality/Curse

Epilogue: Immortality/Curse

So many have wished for immortality, a blessing that will bring absolute happiness.

Pff, just thinking about it makes me feel disgust, repudiation, hatred....

It all started about 20 years after the war ended.

Everything had been peaceful all those years until they showed up.

Just as my wife Kaguya-chan had said, the Otsutsuki clan came to the Elemental Nations.

We were prepared and defeated them, but as a price I had to pay with the fact that the only way to stop them was to absorb them, so I followed Kaguya-chan's instructions and drained every last atom of their existence, even though it made both my DNA and my power become increasingly pure.

The Elemental Nations saw the destructive power that the members of the Otsutsuki clan had, so they decided something that would change the course of history, they decided that it was time to create weapons strong enough to be able to stop the Otsutsuki clan or any other entity coming from space.

I refused to accept those ideas, but that put me in the bad light of the rest of the world who started saying things like I wished they would stay weak so I could subdue them forever.

Sasuke, along with both the old and new leaders of the great villages tried to talk to their people, but this too backfired.

A revolution had started in the Elemental Nations, one that hurt me more than anyone would think because that was the moment where I lost one of the most important people in my life, if not the most important, my beloved wife, the most wonderful woman in the world, the matriarch of the Uzumaki clan, Kushina-chan. She had decided to go and try to convince the leaders of the revolution so that innocent blood would not flow, but over the years she had grown weaker, making it a little easier to assassinate her.

When I heard this, I felt my heart break into a thousand pieces. Kushina had left me, no, she had been taken from me, so in a fit of rage, I destroyed the village where those responsible were, only to see how everyone looked at me as a tyrant.

Gradually people began to look at the Uzumaki clan as a hindrance to their plans, so they used my unthoughtful action as their banner to socially annihilate us.

Many looked at this with disdain because they knew about us, but many more took this opportunity to gain much more power, making the Uzumaki clan's reputation worse and worse.

As the following years passed, the Uzumaki clan decided it was time for us to isolate ourselves from the rest of the world, after all, I still couldn't believe how my beloved Kushi-chan had been killed. I tried to revive her, but something prevented me from doing so, this made me become much more overprotective of my loved ones, I didn't want to suffer again what happened to my beloved.

Slowly, the Elemental Nations began to militarize, entering a new era of war and spitting on all the efforts we had put in.

Was this what my father, Hagoromo, wished for? What Jiraiya, may he rest in peace, wished for, because he was killed by that son of a bitch from the Otsutsuki clan?

Humanity was a hopeless case, that's all I could think.

The years continued to pass and my beloved wives died one after another without me being able to do anything. Not even Tsunade-chan's revitalization jutsu could do anything to extend their lives, it was as if someone wanted to see me broken, and they were succeeding because with each death, the more broken my heart became.

Of all my wives, only one was left standing for the next few years, my last wife, Otsutsuki Kaguya. We watched as my children continued to age, as their descendants departed one after another, as humans continued to kill each other thanks to their filthy weapons of mass destruction.

Not even Orochimaru had caused me as much repulsion as the humans who now inhabited the Elemental Nations. They had destroyed everything I had ever loved, even the graves of my fallen comrades.

With a last-ditch effort, my descendants tried to talk some sense into the other humans, only to be killed one after another. Slowly the situation began to change to one where villages were now fighting with weaponry similar to the nuclear bombs that were in my old world.

The only survivor left of my children was none other than Shiki, my son with Kaguya who was living on the moon in memory of his uncle Toneri.

That was the moment when the last ounce of patience disappeared in me, that was the moment when I understood an irrefutable truth. Kaguya was always right, humans don't deserve this kind of power, not with their mentality full of self-destructive thoughts, that's why we decided to end it all once and for all.

Together with my brothers, we reformed the Shinju and used it to steal the chakra of the world, only to notice how all the villages had united against a new enemy.

It was ironic to see how the situation had changed so much, after all, he had been responsible for stopping this plan when it had happened so many years ago and now he was responsible for activating it.

We stopped all those who tried to stop the plan from happening with ease and stole the world's chakra, making all the weapons the humans had created nothing more than useless toys, but we didn't stop there, no, things were far from over.

We were sure that the humans would try something against us, that's why we made a deal with the Shinigami.

Our immortal existence would bring an end to the ages and we would guard the planet for eternity. We would be responsible for 'restarting' the world and protect it from chaos, we would stand in the way of its untimely end and guide it in the right direction until the time was right, just for one wish, to be reunited with our loved ones in the world of the living.

What do I gain by being immortal if I cannot be with them?

With that thought, I made the contract with the Shinigami, if I fulfilled my obligations, he would bring my loved ones back to the world of the living, they would reincarnate as Ashura and Indra had done.

With a smile, I continued with my contract despite how exhausted I was after so many cycles, all for spending a life with them, but the only problem was that they would not recover their memories until they were 18 years old, but that did not matter, I would only have to protect them, watch over them from the shadows.

* * * * *

"This is the last cycle..." - Muttered a handsome man as he looked up at the starry sky. He was sitting on a rock atop the highest mountain in town - "And nothing has changed."

"No matter how many cycles pass, they will continue to try to kill each other" - replied a beautiful woman with white hair and eyes as white as the moon. She was wearing a white Kimono that matched her luscious and prominent curves well - "But that doesn't matter to us..."

"Right, we just have to keep an eye on the planet, nya" - added a seductive woman with electric blue hair and different colored eyes. She was not only beautiful, but she had two qualities that proved she was not human, she possessed two cat ears on top of her head and two tails sticking out from over her big butt - "We only care about our sisters, nya!"

"You're right, Matatabi..." - the man said as his white hair rose in the breeze from the hill - "Now that we have everything we need, we can finally be together forever..."

A thread of tears ran down the man's cheeks as he clenched his fist tightly.

How many years had it been since it all began? None of that mattered because they could finally all be together again.

"You have suffered too much, Kurama..." - The white-haired woman said as she hugged the man who had been by her side for so many eras.

"If it's so we can be together again, it's a suffering I'm willing to pay for..." - Kurama replied as he looked at his beloved moon princess - "I don't know what would have happened if I didn't have you two by my side, Kaguya, Matatabi..."

"I don't even want to think about it" - replied Matatabi, who had taken human form to be by his beloved older brother's side.

"With the fruit of the Shinju we have gained with each end of the cycle, we can finally return to the others, immortal like us" - said Kaguya with a smile as her pearly eyes looked in the direction of a classic Japanese mansion. In it stood a red-haired man and a brown-haired woman, the two of them were looking fondly at a cute little girl with red hair and purple almost gray eyes who was crying with all her might - "Kushina has returned..."

"I know..." - Kurama murmured as he looked fondly at the little bundle of love in her parents' arms - "No matter how many times I see her, she's still as beautiful as I remember her..."

He wasn't talking about the baby itself, but in the beautiful silhouette of the red-haired woman appeared behind the baby every time she was reborn.

"With her being born, it's only a matter of time before the others come back" - Matatabi said as his eyes sparkled slightly - "I already want to see Yugi-nya..."

Kurama slowly smiled in the direction of the family before disappearing with the two women.
