'Had he always been this shameless?' Jian Yun's eye twitched in response. No matter how she looked at it, his words were vulgar and she was smart enough not to reply. After all, replying would have created a bigger hole for her to lie into, seeing as Huo Liancheng didn't have an ounce of dignity in his body.

The man could truly be inappropriate whenever he felt like it. Wasn't it just a few seconds ago when he had glared everyone down with his eyes alone? Or a few minutes ago when he had been extremely outraged by her words that she thought his head was going to pop? And now, it was as if those events hadn't happened, and he was back to teasing her again. She blinked and turned away. Sometimes, she just couldn't read him!

It had been a month and a half since the Mermaid had been released, so it wasn't the most popular pick for moviegoers today. In fact, when they had entered the cinema, there was only one couple sitting in the front row, and they looked far more preoccupied with themselves rather than with the movie. Other than that, they were completely alone. The quietness loomed over them comfortingly as they quickly found their seats.

It was as if they had rented the entire movie theatre all to themselves.

Although Jian Yun had seen this movie before with Zhou Shaolong, she had been too preoccupied with the Lover's Heart that she didn't care too much about the plot or the characters. Now, she found herself enjoying the movie more, laughing lightly at the humorous scenes as she leaned back on her seat. However, she also kept herself in check, making sure that she didn't sound too exaggerated or dramatic since Huo Liancheng sitting right beside her. With the man's tendencies to tease her, she didn't dare want to humiliate herself again.

As she glanced at him from time to time, Huo Liancheng had a cold expression all throughout the movie, as if he wasn't interested in the screen at all. She turned to the side with a shrug. Why did she care? As long as she was focused on the movie, she could pretend that he wasn't there at all–wouldn't that make it better?

However, there was something amiss as she stared into the big screen. The mermaids had already splashed around the pool, pulling and teasing each other. Just as she was about to lean a little closer to see what was going on, a dark shadow suddenly hovered over her face. "What?" She blinked, suddenly reeling back.

Jian Yun was about to push him away when he suddenly grabbed a hold of her 3D glasses. The luminous mix of blue and red glinted under the piercing light of the movie screen as he threw them across the other seat. Before she could react, he had already kissed her right on the lips.

When she tilted her head to avoid him, Huo Liancheng grabbed the opportunity to peck her on the cheek.

"Hey!" Her eyes narrowed into a glare. It had been a little over a week since he had kissed her in the office and had been punched in the stomach. Was he really that masochistic that he'd sacrifice himself just to take advantage of her? Her fingers curled into small fists. "Do you mind having a sense of decency?"

Not discouraged by her words, he simply leaned back on his seat with a snort. "Decency? Look at the couple in the front row."

"I'm not talking about the couple in the front row!" Jian Yun hissed in frustration, before subconsciously glancing at the couple in the front. However, as soon as she had glanced over to their direction, her face had flushed bright red. The hairs at the back of her neck stood, and she shuddered in disgust. It didn't even take her a second before she glanced away, flustered and uncomfortable at the sight in front of her.

Do they even know what was happening in the movie at this point? They clearly thought of this theatre as their own personal bedroom. Not only did they forget where they're at, but it seemed that they had also been driven by their own lust. One second, they were just making out, and the next second, the woman was already riding on top of him.

Her hands gripped the straps of her bag. She was just about to suggest that they leave this place when a brush of warm air stroke her lips.

Not again!

Immediately coming to her senses, she grabbed a piece of popcorn and shoved it into Huo Liancheng's mouth, preventing him from kissing her.

Before he could retreat, his mouth was already stuffed with popcorn. His movements paused as he glared at the culprit in front of him. "You shouldn't have done that," he tried to mumble.

"Don't talk with your mouth full!" At the sight of his helpless expression, Jian Yun burst into laughter. "Serves you ri–uhmf!"

She didn't celebrate that long when she realized that something sweet had grazed her tongue. It was the popcorn that she had used to gag him with. Not only had he kissed her while she was laughing, but he had also fed her popcorn as he did so. Her cheeks turned red as she immediately turned away, avoiding his cocky gaze.

Jian Yun shot him a glare. The sweet popcorn was still at the edge of her tongue. She didn't know whether to vomit it all out or to chew and swallow it. Her fingers curled across the faux leather seats, wanting to hit him hard enough that he'd fly across the Atlantic Ocean. 'But knowing him, he'd just take that as an encouragement,' she thought bitterly.

At the sight of her faltered features, Huo Liancheng smirked. He was just about to bend over and move closer to the woman beside him when she quickly placed a hand between them, pushing him back against his seat.

"Hey!"

"I have a name, you know," he murmured sarcastically.

"President Huo!" Jian Yun gritted her teeth. It was a mistake to go to the movies with him, and an even greater failure for her to agree on a movie that practically no one else had wanted to watch. 'Why did I even agree to come here in the first place?' With a sigh, she dangled her fingers up in her hair, trying to fix her flustered appearance, but it was to no avail.

Grabbing her raised hand, he placed it on his lips. His dark eyes stared at her for a while, looking as if he was reaching through her soul. "Call me Liancheng."

She shuddered as soon as his lips brushed against the back of her hand. "I have a boyfriend," she snapped, desperately trying to retract her hand from him. However, his grip on her had tightened considerably. At this point, she couldn't escape. "The least you can do is show some respect!"

"You're not married, aren't you? Just throw him aside!" He scowled.

"Not married?" Suddenly, a thought occurred to her, and Jian Yun couldn't help but ask, "Don't you care if your girlfriend had already slept with multiple guys? Or had multiple ex-girlfriends? Don't you feel a little bit insulted at that?"

There was a moment of silence. For a moment, a dark look flickered on his face, but it had vanished before she could even bring it up. He stared at her for a long time before snapping, "I don't mind. As long as I get to be your last." He said it as if it was the most obvious thing in the world and that he couldn't believe she was asking him this at all.

Jian Yun's heart skipped a beat as soon as the words slipped his mouth. She didn't know why, but she actually believed him–in all seriousness. But that couldn't be, right? Any man would've been disgruntled if their lover wasn't as pure as they had thought. She had even heard various situations wherein the man had dumped his partner just because he had realized that he wasn't her first. How could Huo Liancheng be any different? Was he just lying to her to ease her mind?

"What? Don't you believe me?" Seeing her so silent, he reached out and pulled her into his embrace. "Silly girl, why didn't I find you sooner?"

"What did you just say?" The movie was too loud, especially when they had reached the climax of the entire thing, so his last sentence sounded like a bunch of gibberish in her ears. She squinted, glancing up at him.

"Forget it." Not wanting to say it again, he finally let go of her. "Are you still watching the movie?"

Jian Yun's heart stirred in her chest as his words echoed in her ears. Did he really not care? Did he really like her that much? The humorous lines of the movie had disappeared to the back of her mind as she glanced at the couple sitting in the front row. It seemed that they still hadn't released each other from their embrace. Reddening, she pretended to brush her fingers down the frayed strands before shaking her head. "I'm not going to watch anymore. Let's go."

Huo Liancheng held her hand as they walked down the steps of the movie theatre. When they walked past the couple, they had already moved to the ground–moaning and groaning with every grope and press. They didn't even notice that someone had just walked passed them.

She simply walked ahead, too embarrassed to look in that direction.

Just as she had walked out of the theatre, she suddenly noticed that her bag had been vibrating this entire time. When she had entered the movies, she had turned on the vibrate mode on her phone, so she didn't hear it if anyone had called her. "Who could it be?" She murmured to herself, grabbing her phone from her bag.

Upon glancing at the screen, she had around ten missed calls–all from the same number. There was also a text message.

Jian Yun clicked the message out of habit, but when the chat box flashed on her screen, she immediately turned pale. The grip on her phone had tightened, and she gritted her teeth. It seemed that one of her greatest nightmares had just spurted into life.

"Is something wrong?" Noticing the sudden change in expression, he glanced at her phone.

"It's nothing!" She had tried to hide her phone in a panic, not wanting him to see the text. However, she had been so anxious that her phone fell out of her hands, crashing onto the tiled floor. Her fingers trembled uncontrollably.

She was just about to pick it up, but Huo Liancheng had already grabbed the phone. When he glanced at it, he frowned.

"Babe–Yundao–it's Xu Haiyang. I want to see you! There's something very important I needed to tell you. Can you give me a chance, please?"

"Give it to me!" Before he could scroll up, Jian Yun had already snatched the phone from his hands and held it tightly against her chest, looking as if she was hiding a big secret. Her eyes squinted in accusation and worry, as she struggled to get a hold of herself.

"Will you be meeting him?"

Suddenly, her resolve had hardened as she brought her head up to look into his cold eyes. All the laughter had faded from his expression, and Huo Liancheng had returned to his normal composed self. It was an unfathomable sight, one that she had grown uncomfortable in seeing. She shifted her stance and gritted her teeth.

"No!" With one last snap, she swerved and strode away.

Huo Liancheng narrowed his eyes at her stiff nature. A trace of curiosity and gloom flashed across his eyes. It seemed that Xu Haiyang really had a strong influence on her, and he was determined to find out why.
