You, CEO’s Secret Wife

C72 Thank You Papa Huo!

C72 Thank You Papa Huo!

"Well?"

Jian Yun could only think of that possibility. What else could there be? It wasn't that she didn't have confidence in her beauty, but if they were to compare their own family backgrounds, she was absolutely no match for Huo Liancheng. Upon considering the entire package, it was hard to believe that he had actually fallen in love with her at first sight.

But from the first time they had locked eyes in that coffee shop that night or the time that he had taken her to the hospital, all of these aspects had made her suspect that he had other intentions for her.

As much as she had felt disgruntled about the claim, Luo Yanyan was right–she didn't really have any other talents besides having a pretty face, so what else could have made him go for someone like her?

"What are you thinking about?" Huo Liancheng flicked her forehead as a frown marred his expression. "You know, I'm not as bad as you think."

Jian Yun rubbed her forehead, raising her head to look at him. 'Not as bad as you think...' His words repeated at the back of her mind, and she took this time to observe his actions. If he really wasn't playing with her, then that meant he truly was serious in courting her–that all of these truly wasn't a humongous set-up meant to explode on her face.

But how was that possible?

Seeing as Huo Liancheng didn't have any intention of saying anything else, the two finished their meals in comfortable silence. Jian Yun slowly drank the Egg Flower soup that he had given her before glancing up at him. She asked casually, "Have we met before?"

The man had stopped moving, and the grip he had on his chopsticks had trembled. The firmness in his face had completely faltered, and his eyelashes fluttered up in response. He slowly glanced at Jian Yun. There, she could see the fire igniting in his eyes, and she couldn't help but feel a little unsettled.

Ignoring the look on his face, she deliberately propped her chin up with her hands and leaned in closely. "Could it be that you're my long-lost father?"

"What?" Huo Liancheng sputtered almost immediately. The gleam in his eyes had faded as he pounded his fist against his chest, trying to control himself.

"But you don't look that old. I mean–if you're my dad, you would've given birth to me at the age of six if I'm calculating correctly." Jian Yun stared at the man for a long time as her fingers grazed across the bowl in her hands. Squinting her eyes, she suddenly snapped her fingers. "I know! Could you be my long-lost brother?"

"Y–your brother? You think you're my sister?" His shoulders sagged, looking absolutely deflated by the insinuation of her words. Flicking the back of her head, he sighed exasperatedly. "What the hell is going through that head of yours?"

"President Huo, you actually called me your sister!" Her face flashed in surprise. She didn't even mind that he had slapped her at the back of her head as she stared up at him–her eyes filled with deliberate amazement, one that had completely thrown him off.

"What?" He stared at her, momentarily speechless by her joking tone. Rubbing his forehead, he stared down at her, wondering what else he had gotten himself into.

"Don't call me President Huo."

"Then what should I call you?" Jian Yun bit on her spoon as she thought about it for a second. A few seconds later, she looked up at him with a mischievous glint in her eyes. "Dad! Should I call you Dad, then?"

This time, Huo Liancheng turned bright red at her words. The hairs at the back of his neck stood in contemplation as he suddenly wrapped his arm around her neck, pulling her even closer towards him. Before she could say anything, he quickly pressed his lips against hers, and he could hear her groaning in protest under his grasp.

Darting his tongue against her lips, his eyes narrowed sinisterly. "Will your Dad do this to you?"

It took Jian Yun a while to regain her senses, and her face immediately flushed red. Her fingernails dug into her palms, but she knew that she couldn't say anything else. Besides, she was the one who had provoked him earlier, and now that she was eating the food that he had prepared, she could only tolerate it this time. Making a face, she reverted her attention back to the tupperwares.

"Are you angry?" Huo Liancheng observed her bright red face, resisting the urge to pinch her cheeks.

She shook her head rapidly and grasped the glass of fermented wine in her hands. "No!"

Although he wanted to tease her even further, he decided to let it go and focused on his own rice bowl. "What do you want to do after eating?"

"I'm going to get some sleep."

"Why don't you come with me to the movies instead?"

Jian Yun scoffed. Just because she was comfortable with him didn't mean that she'd be complacent with his requests. "Not interested," she said dryly.

Even then, Huo Liancheng still wasn't discouraged. "Then what are you interested in doing?"

"I'm interested in sleeping," she murmured, her voice dripping with sarcasm.

"Then I'll sleep with you." His eyes gleamed with roguishness.

"What?" Jian Yun almost choked in her wine as she glared up at him. Of course, he'd use something so innocent to emphasize his shamelessness! Why wasn't she surprised? Gritting her teeth, she turned away from his illustrious gaze and focused on the fabric of her jeans.

Huo Liancheng smirked, leaning in closer to her. "Excited?"

'You wish!' Not wanting to say anything more, she ignored him and simply downed her soup. The last thing she wanted was to embarrass herself even further.

He chuckled. This time, he decided not to push any further and instead stood up to clear the dishes on the table.

Seeing this, Jian Yun quickly stopped him. Putting down her own bowl, she grabbed a hold of his chopsticks and started organizing everything on the desk. "I can do it," she stated firmly. After all, he had already given her food, so this was the only way she could pay him back.

Huo Liancheng stood at the side as he watched her clean up the table. However, just as she was about to take the dishes to the bathroom, he immediately stopped her.

"You can put it in the bag." He waved his hand dismissively. "I can take it back home so Auntie can wash it."

"I'm going to wash my hands anyway, so this makes it all the more convenient." Jian Yun shrugged. Besides, she had met a handful of people who would say a different thing yet think of another. He may say that he didn't want her to do any of it, but he could be angry if she didn't actually wash the dishes. Not bothering to listen to him, she made her way towards the bathroom.

"There's really no need."

To her surprise, Huo Liancheng grabbed the utensils from her hands, putting everything into the bag. It seemed that he really didn't want her to wash them anymore.

"Let's go." He didn't even wait for her to reply as he grabbed his coat and documents and headed out of his office.

"Wait!" Jian Yun grabbed a hold of her bag, racing after him. "Where are you going?"

"I'll drive you back home." He shrugged, turning off the lights in the office.

The two walked in silence as they stepped into the car. Driving for a while, Huo Liancheng glanced her, noticing the dark circles under her eyes. He frowned in concern. "Are you still not feeling well?"

"Yeah." Jian Yun slowly nodded. In the past, her mother would usually take care of her back then. She remembered clutching her stomach so much during her first few days. And now that things had gone wrong, she had branched out and taken even more stress. This was probably one of the factors that had caused her period pains to be even more horrible throughout the years.

"Do you want to see a doctor?"

"I've seen plenty of doctors, and they always say that it's normal." Pressing a warm bag against her stomach, she leaned against the car door and squeezed her eyes shut. She was no longer shy around him as she shrugged. "I'll just head back and mix up some brown sugar and ginger water."

'Besides, what's the point of hiding my pain from him? I've already embarrassed myself enough today,' she thought to herself. At this point, she was all the more comfortable in telling him all of this.

"Auntie made you some sugar-infused water." Huo Liancheng glanced at the red light. Using this time, he reached for his bag at the backseat and gave her a thermos. "Here."

"I..." Jian Yun stared at the thermos in her hand. At the sight of the metallic texture, a strange feeling stirred in her heart.

If he had really just wanted to play with her, why would he put in so much effort? But if he was truly sincerely pursuing her...Jian Yun shook her head at the thought. It was just too unrealistic.

She glanced up at him. The neon lights from the various advertisement fell on his body, outlining his masculine figure through the car window. Under the glow, the outline of his face had been highlighted even more. It was like a carving that had come to life. And as she gazed at him, she found herself falling deeper into his grasp. Her heart raced in her chest.

"What? Are you so touched that you couldn't speak?" Huo Liancheng could see right through her expression, and the corners of his mouth were raised.

"It's really touching," she found herself saying, nodding her head seriously. "Thank you, Father Huo."

His smile froze.

However, this time, Jian Yun came prepared. Pointing at the flickering traffic lights, she screamed, "Green light!"

"You're going to pay for this later." Shooting her a glare, Huo Liancheng slammed his foot onto the accelerator, and the car immediately sped down the highway.

Jian Yun could only laugh silently at the sight of his sputtering figure.
