C25 You Are a Dog?

C25 You Are a Dog?

As the name implies, the Beast Core is an energy crystal filled with unstable Gene Energy that is found in the body of the mutant beasts.

Due to the unstable Gene Energy in the Beast Cores, Awakened Practitioners would usually not dare to forcefully consume it and end up with the risk of their genes collapsing.

Although the Gene Energy in the Beast Cores could not be directly absorbed by the Awakened Practitioners, it nevertheless serves as the main ingredient to refine all kinds of Gene Drug, Gene Artifacts, and other supporting equipment for Awakened Practitioners.

Only after going through a special development process by "Gene Refining Experts" would the energy harvested from the Beast Cores be usable.

One item resulting from that process includes the Gene Drug — a special item that countless people drooled over. With its potential of causing an awakening in a normal person, its price naturally skyrocketed as the supply could not meet up to its demand.

Aside from making Gene Drugs, Beast Cores can also be merged together or equipped with certain weapons. By going through that process, the destructive power of those enhanced weapons would be several folds greater than other normal weapons. Furthermore, they also possessed a special amplifying effect on the Gene Energy of its user, inevitably sought after by many Awakened Practitioners.

For example, the semi-finished Bionic Arm that Han Dong gifted Chu Lin was created by one of the Gene Refining Experts. While it may only be half-finished, it did not fail to further enhance Chu Lin's strength.

Very practical indeed...

Those weapons would be known as Gene Artifacts.

These are some reasons why Beast Cores are now being used as this world's main currency. Not only could those cores be used to purchase priceless treasures, but it could also be used to buy anything you wanted, assuming that you have enough in your possession.

The value of Beast Cores naturally created a large number of mercenary groups that specialized in hunting monsters.

Even then, obtaining Beast Cores was not an easy matter.

First of all, the mutated beasts were not only powerful but could be extremely cunning for certain species.

Due to their vicious nature and enhanced abilities — as a result of the Spiritual Qi — the mutated beasts were usually stronger than human soldiers of the same level.

If normal soldiers wanted to hunt monsters of the same level alone, they would require extraordinary strength to do so. Otherwise, they would simply be wasting their time and effort.

While Beast Cores may be extremely precious in their own respect, different cores harvested from different mutated beasts would vary in size and quality for unknown reasons. Even the most common mutated beast such as the Blood-Thirsty Furious Ant would some sort of difference in their Beast Cores.

Even when a mercenary group would suffer heavy casualties to kill a strong monster, they might be extremely unlucky and end up receiving a Beast Core that isn't worth the amount they lost.

This sort of thing was quite common and was not considered strange at all…

Thus, the higher the quality of a Beast Core, the more valuable it will be on the market. Some higher quality Beast Cores would be considered as precious treasures that never lacked in demand.

"..."

After arriving at Roaring Tribe with Hong Moli, Chu Lin was astonished to find out that the camp did not look one bit like a tribe, but more like a small village.

After being inspected by the two Roaring Tribe warriors at the entrance to the camp, Chu Lin and Hong Moli entered together. Under the envious gazes of the crowd, they had finally arrived at the E-class gathering ground.

Already quite familiar with the place, Hong Moli took a few turns on the wide street with Chu Lin following behind and walked into a marketplace that was located at the northern side of the camp.

There were a total of three marketplaces that smaller vendors could set up their stalls in the Roaring Tribe. This specific one on the northern end was the largest one among the three.

"This E-class gathering ground is indeed enormous. Surely, it would be at least three times the size of the Weiyang camp, right?" Chu Lin seemed like an old lady who had just entered a grand garden for the first time. Looking in every direction, he quickly saved the vivid images captured by his two eyes into his mind.

Two warriors stood at the entrance of the marketplace. Since they were clearly familiar with Hong Moli, they were stunned for a moment before welcoming her in with friendly expressions.

"Lady Hong Moli, are you here to make purchases again?"

"How many supplies will you be buying this time? Do you need rent a transport car from the market?"

The two warriors fixed their gazes at the beautiful Hong Moli, not even trying to conceal their desires.

"Hehe, I'm not telling you guys."

Hong Moli pouted coquettishly and walked past the two towards the marketplace.

After entering the marketplace, Chu Lin could not help but smack his lips as he looked at the endless stream of people.

No wonder the commander called this a grand gathering. Setting up a business in such a bustling place would definitely result in a large amount of profit for the Roaring Tribe.

The difference between an E-class and an F-class gathering ground was far too great.

"Hey, isn't that Hong Moli?"

In their moment of daze as they admired the streams of people, a mocking voice suddenly sounded from behind.

Hearing that voice, the two of them turned their heads.

At that moment, they saw seven or eight soldiers dressed in uniform of the Roaring Tribe standing behind them.

The one who spoke was a sturdy middle-aged man. He wore a badge with a golden crest of a roaring lion on his chest.

Judging from his attire, this man's status could not be underestimated.

Hong Moli glanced lazily at the person and said with a faint smile: "Awakened Practitioner of the Roaring Tribe, Lord Qi Wen."

"Hehe, long time no see. You are still as breathtaking as ever."

The man who was called "Qi Wen" chuckled. Eyeing Hong Moli from head to toe, he continued praising her without even trying to hold his desires back.

"Lord Qi Wen is too kind. Anyways, I still have things that I need to do, so I won't be disturbing you, Lord Qi Wen."

Red Jasmine smiled and nodded slightly at the Qi Wen. She suddenly grabbed Chu Lin's hand with one hand and was about to leave.

Feeling the sudden warmth in his palm, Chu Lin shifted his gaze and seemed to be at a loss for what to do at that moment.

"Wait, did I let you go?"

Qi Wen gave them a playful look as he stretched out his arm to stop Hong Moli and Chu Lin from leaving.

Stopping in her tracks, Hong Moli unveiled her long, narrow eyes and looked towards Qi Wen as her hands trembled slightly.

"Is there anything Lord Qi Wen needs from me?"

Hong Moli did not lose her composure as she asked with a smile.

"Hehe, Hong Moli, come with me for a stroll."

Qi Wen spoke calmly. Though his words sounded like an invitation, it carried a commanding tone that felt rather unpleasant.

Taking a deep breath, Hong Moli revealed an awkward smile on her face.

No matter who saw this scene, they would surely take pity on her.

"My apologies, Lord Qi Wen. I still have many things to do."

Hong Moli's tone remained soft and gentle as if she possessed the desire to conquer.

"Why don't we save this matter for after I finish purchasing all the materials."

Qi Wen narrowed his eyes and stared at Hong Moli for a while.

At that instant, Qi Wen swept his gaze from Hong Moli to Chu Lin.

Unable to tolerate her constant evasion, he quickly responded in a displeased tone.

"Let the slave beside you handle the tasks. You should accompany me instead."

Chu Lin's body stiffened.

Turning his head, he ignored the hint Hong Moli signaled with her palm and asked with a forced smile.

"Who are you calling a slave?"

If Hong Moli did not hold his hand and constantly hinted at his patience, Chu Lin would have long since exploded in rage.

"What is it? Do you think you're stronger than a slave? How about a dog instead?"

Qi Wen asked mockingly after hearing Chu Lin's words.
